[W126 Coupe] EHA Question

The 560 EHA is leaking. Per yesterday, I replaced the two O-rings. The seepage issue has stopped, however my fears have come true that the EHA is shot. Its leaking fuel resin from the two prong plug. Not around the whole thing like it was before and the gas/ cabin smell has gone. My question is would a faulty eha cause hot and cold starting problems? For the most part its does it all the time unless you start the car and the restart it say 5 mins later. Sometimes you have to start it 2-3 three times before it will start. And on occasion it will start, sputter then die .RPMs are at about 800 after its idles down and with car in drive its at 600Rpm. The engine runs smoothly with no shakes and drive ability wise runs just fine with plenty of pep. I run 93 octane fuel and have since I owed the car.

Here is why I ask. I know the following, the local mech shop said it was holding pressure per the specs, the fuel filter only has about 15K on it, the pumps "appear" to be working fine. After I had the timing chain service done my local shop advised me that the lamba control settings were way off and the car was running lean ( I think). Which would explain why I got shi* gas mileage and no pep. I had the hot cold starting issue about 5 years ago. An authorized Mercedes shop did the work. I have no clue what they did but the problem with the starting arose after they did the timing chain service. They had the car for 2 weeks and said that it was fixed, that being the starting issue hot/cold. Again, it was fine for 5 years and now after doing the timing chain the problem is back using this other shop. I really like the new service shop and have been using them for 3 years, and I sent about a dozen other customer who have been really pleased with the honesty and the quality of work.

The only strange thing to me is that after a day or so when you undo the gas cap the pressure noise is not there. Now if the car runs for a while it does have the pressure as it should. What's funny is my 300CE sportline can sit for days on end and you open the cap and you get a strong amount of pressure.

I have read several archives, but it looks to be a systematic guessing game, weak pumps, fuel pressure regulator, ect... Why can't the 560 just have a wee bit more computer smarts to tell you the problem...

Any input or what I can check?

Thanks,

Jason
