Well, it's been a while but yes, I've ridden across the country before.
The first time was New York City to San Francisco, Then Montreal to
Tijuana (we broke the crankshaft in North Bay Ont., but luckily it
broke in front of a welding shop, and they convinced us they could weld
it, so we were back on the road in two days)

The last was from Seattle to Philly in '76, Ended in Philly July 2, 3
& 4. Got snowbound on Granite Pass between Cody and Sheridan in June.
Broke the crank again, in Indianapolis--the Birthplace of Speed. Oddly
enough we had to convince them they could weld it this time.

The car? http://home.twmi.rr.com/buick.jpg

Cruising speed. 33mph. When it rains, we get wet. When it snows,
we get cold. and if forced to drive on the Interstate, we get scared.

Alas due to ahh cramped conditions, the only cameras we had were a
Petri Racer and a venerable Argus C3.

But these trips were all planed out years in advance (there were 50
cars 1914 or earlier starting, so we weren't alone). My trip will be,
faster, cheaper and, as much as possible, driving on a whim.
