[LargeFormat] Just quiet or out of order?

Is an old lens as you describe going to be helped by a good lens hood or
does it need to be serviced optically? Would that make sense even? I can't
imagine a standard lens of that time would give results anywhere near a
modern multi-coated one . A friend tells me that his multi-coated new Symmar
is vastly more contrasty and sharper than the 1970's stuff I have. I just
bought a nice used 95mm Technikon f2.8 but haven't used it yet as I am still
glueing sheets of leather and bits of wood together in the hope of ending up
with a bag bellows. Philip
