Hmmm, well, I recently got a used 8x10 holder that had no locks, so I
unscrewed 2 from an old 4x5 holder that's prone to leaks and screwed them
into the holes in the 8x10 holder - seemed to work fine for me. And yes,
they were threaded... guess it depends on age and make.
