BUT - what shall I wear with the Mighty Shen Hao? All
suggestions gleefully received. Best suggested outfit
wins a prize....truly rooly.

Uncle Dick, I believe have the solution to your
sartorial dilemma: Chinese Silk! A quick memory search
resulted in the perscription for the remedy for the
western ailments brought on by wearing trousers,
especially with a belt, by the noted Chinese
Philosopher Lin Yutang in his book "The Importance of
Living."

In his wonderful treatise on enjoying a much more idle
& casual life he details a number of the complaints
westerners have regarding stomach & intestinal
ailments, and regards the main culprit as the wearing
of trousers. Now- I understand you enjoy the wearing
of more period trousers, presumably with braces; but
there does come a time, as we age, that even this can
be an encumbrance around the waiste. His suggestion
is, of course, the Chinese silk robe.

I have done a little research & found a couple of
sites where these items may be purchased, recognizing
that you might have a difficulty locating foreign
goods in your area...
