Looking at the numbers fort he Yankee tank.... It holds a max of 12 4x5
sheets which works out well with the 13 max you indicated for 1:1 D-76.

I tray develop in a 5x7 tray up to 6 sheets at one time. With the dilute
developer volume per 8"x10" I should be using 6/4 * 500 ml or 750 ml. Now
figuring the depth required in my "5x7" trays , which are 6"x8" with sloping
sides.

(6" x 2.54 cm/in.) x (8" x 2.54 cm/in.) x (?depth" x 2.54 cm/in) = 750 ml x 1
cm^3/ml

or .... Depth = 0.95 inches. Which is about 2/3 full! I have to admit to
using about 1/2 this much since I started processing about 30 years ago!

The 80 sq in rule means the developer is all used up and should not be used
for a second batch.

What this means is ....

If you think you use less developer with a color processing drum and rolling
to make sure the developer covers the film....... your not considering the
developer may become exhausted before the job is finished. If you put 4 -
4x5 sheets in the drum you need to use at least 250 ml (8.45 oz.) of dilute
developer.
