[LargeFormat] How I think about lenses.

Our film, paper, developers, lens, and lighting all are factors.  In the
hands of a photographer they are tools that are used to help create the
end product.

When at an A. Adams showing, here in Indianapolis, I said to another
person, " these photos are beautiful. Do you think he used multi-coated
lenses?" The other person thought for a minute and said, what you all
know,
 
"No, he did not."

Then I said,
 
"I guess you don't need them. Do you?"

Lenses are tools to me, I use them to help create a certain effect.
Contrast, depth of focus and focal length all add to the quality of the
end photograph.
