      1. PRESIDENT BUSH: DON'T ASK ISRAEL TO MAKE FURTHER CONCESSIONS
      By Beth Kennedy - Israelinsider.com - April 11, 2003=20
      An open letter sent to President Bush...=20

      Dear Mr. President,=20

      I stand and cheer your handling of the War on Terror. You are =
doing a masterful job! Your strategy has been excellent. A key component =
of that strategy is the fact that you have held terrorists, and the =
countries that harbor them, accountable. You are putting the full force =
of the United States behind what you say, defending those principles =
that have made this country great.=20

      For instance, you have never met with Yasser Arafat, a true =
terrorist. That is a fine distinction that needed to be made: the =
President of the United States will neither meet with, nor entertain, =
terrorists. Again, your handling of the world situation shows keen =
insight and much needed perspective.=20

      However, I wish to point out to you one issue that is very near =
and dear to my heart: namely, the security and prosperity of Israel. I =
am a Christian Zionist. At the invitation of a friend from Baltimore, I =
recently had the pleasure of attending the day-long conference of the =
Orthodox Union in D.C. We heard clear, insightful things, spoken by some =
of the many top-notch people within your administration.=20

      Elliot Abrams spoke frankly and knowledgeably on the Middle East. =
He repeatedly assured the crowd that the Road Map would not, and could =
not, be put into place until the Palestinian leadership produces and =
functions as a true partner.=20

      I simply wish to register my concern that, once the immediate =
conflict in Iraq is behind us, the world community, as led by the =
Quartet, of which we're part, will demand that the State of Israel make =
concession upon concession. I don't want to see that happen. This strong =
diplomatic tendency must be balanced with a realistic appraisal of the =
Palestinian leadership, and not with a white washed, optimistic one for =
political expedience.=20

      For instance, in a recent speech, you asked the Israeli leadership =
to forego further settlement activity. However, according to the various =
Israeli-Palestinian agreements, any settlement activity remains directly =
negotiable between the Israelis and Palestinians. Nothing has been =
negotiated that would presently limit Israel regarding Israeli =
settlement. Furthermore, mechanisms have already been established as =
part of the current peace process to arrive at the practical resolution =
of this issue. Thus, by overlooking these agreements, the U.S. position =
initially demands a concession from Israel.=20

      So, what are the Palestinians conceding? No more terrorism? But =
the use of terror was already supposed to stop as part of the Oslo =
Accord, which Arafat signed. Are they conceding democratic leadership =
with free, open elections? But that was already supposed to be =
implemented as part of the Hebron Protocol, which he also signed.=20

      Did you know that the Palestinians have built 261 settlements in =
the West Bank since 1967? No one seems to mention these. But, during the =
same time period, only 144 Jewish settlements have been built in all of =
the disputed areas, including Gaza and the land surrounding Jerusalem, =
as well as the West Bank. Look at the difference between those two =
numbers!=20

      The way I see it, we are demanding further concessions from =
Israel, while only requiring the Palestinians to abide by previous =
commitments. Not only does this strike me as being grossly unfair, but =
tragic as well.=20

      Why are we treating the only democracy in the Middle East, and our =
very good partner and constant ally, this way?=20

      The Palestinian leadership falls terribly short of being any kind =
of true negotiating partner. It may take many years before they actually =
arrive at that place.=20

      Please remember that, between 1948 and 1967, there had been no =
call for a Palestinian State. Jordan and Egypt controlled the land they =
had gained during Israel's War for Independence. They did not give the =
areas they occupied to the Palestinians then, and it didn't seem to be a =
problem. It wasn't until Israel had won those lands in the Six Day War =
that Arab voices started crying "occupation" and the PLO, the PFLP, and =
other groups began their reign of international terror.=20

      To force the Road Map solution on Israel would not only amount to =
double-dealing, but treachery bordering on political fratricide. These =
are our brothers and sisters. Then, too, we would be repeating Oslo's =
tragic mistake: directly rewarding terrorism.=20

      As you well know, the French recently tried to embarrass and hurt =
us politically. Yet, in the end, they did no damage to us. Why? Because =
we were right and they were wrong. You had the moral clarity and =
leadership skill to lead this nation through a political mine field.=20

      On the other hand, however well-intentioned, imposition of the =
Road Map would irreparably HURT Israel, in a way far worse than anything =
that arrogant French diplomacy could ever do to us. And I fear it will =
only backfire and hurt this country in the long run.=20

      I know that you read the same book of Genesis that I do; I appeal =
to your faith. You know as well as I that God gave the land of Canaan to =
Israel a long time ago. Who are we to now tell them what parts they can =
and can't have?=20

      Please think about this.=20

      Again, I think you are doing a wonderful job. I wish you continued =
health and strength, knowing that the Lord watches us, not from a =
distance, but holds us in the palm of His hand. May God continue =
blessing America and your administration.=20

      Also by Beth Kennedy: Changing from a mild-mannered Christian to a =
raging Zionist=20

      2.   'MICHAEL KELLY, 1957-2003'
      Jerusalem Post Editorial: Apr. 5, 2003=20
      "I am Catholic and my wife is Jewish, so in our house we celebrate =
both Hanukka and Christmas, which our sons, Tom and Jack, regard as an =
excellent thing. People sometimes ask me if it is hard to raise children =
in respect and love for two great faiths that have a slight doctrinal =
disagreement between them, and I say: Not if you give them presents =
every day for eight days of Hanukka and for Christmas. The more Gods, =
the merrier is Tom and Jack's strong belief."=20

      So wrote Washington Post columnist and Atlantic Monthly =
editor-at-large Michael Kelly, in a column dated December 12, 2001. On =
Thursday, Kelly filed another another dispatch, this one from Iraq, =
which ran on the front page of this newspaper.

      "Near the crest of the bridge across the Euphrates River that Task =
Force 3-69 Armor of the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division seized =
Wednesday afternoon, was a body which lay twisted from its fall.=20

      "He had been an old man, judging from his blood-matted gray hair, =
and he was poor and not a regular soldier, judging from his clothes. He =
was lying on his back, not far from one of several burning skeletons of =
the small trucks that Saddam Hussein's willing and unwilling irregulars =
employed. The tanks and Bradleys and Humvees and bulldozers and rocket =
launchers, and all the rest of the massive stuff that makes up the =
United States Army on the march, rumbled past him, pushing on."=20

      The report ran under the headline, "No surprises, no casualties, =
no trouble for Task Force 3-69." The next day, Kelly was killed when his =
Humvee overturned, making him the first American reporter to die in the =
conflict thus far.=20

      As the passages quoted above show, Kelly combined things not often =
found together in a journalist: decency, clear-sightedness, good humor, =
and an immense talent for writing. All were reflected in nearly =
everything he published, one reason why The Jerusalem Post began running =
his column earlier this year. Kelly was also rare in another sense: A =
Democrat in the old-fashioned Irish way, he was also a vocal proponent =
of this war, and he had no patience for the fashionable postures =
pacifist, anti-American, anti-Israel of the radical Left.=20

      "I understand why some dislike the idea, and fear the =
ramifications, of America as a liberator," he wrote from Kuwait on =
February 26. "But I do not understand why they do not see that anything =
is better than life with your face under the boot. And that any rescue =
of a people under the boot (be they Afghan, Kuwaiti or Iraqi) is =
something to be desired. Even if the rescue is less than perfectly =
realized. Even if the rescuer is a great, overmuscled, bossy, selfish =
oaf. Or would you, for yourself, choose the boot?"=20

      Or take a column he wrote about Israel, a month before the =
September 11 attacks: "Now the other great founding myth of the peace =
process is also dead. This is the great falsehood of relative morality. =
For decades, the European Left has maintained that the Palestinians held =
a morally superior position to the Israelis: They were an illegally =
subjugated people who were striking back in what may have been violent =
but were also appropriate ways. The claim of Palestinian moral =
superiority ended when the world saw Palestinians cheer in the street a =
young man holding up hands red with the blood of an Israeli soldier =
beaten to death, or perhaps it was when Palestinians stomped two boys, =
one a US citizen, to death in a cave, or perhaps it was some other =
moment of gross and gleeful murder."=20

      Remarkable about these columns is their plainspokenness. Kelly was =
a writer of enormous gifts; gifts that, in another writer, would be =
turned to archness, irony, equivocation, and counterpoise. But very much =
like George Orwell, his style was entirely in the service of his point, =
and his point was always forceful, clear, and morally informed. Kelly =
did not traffic in exquisite neutralities. He believed there was such a =
thing as "the good guys." And he stood by them, against the bad guys, =
and against those who pretended there wasn't a choice to be made between =
them.=20

      We wonder what Kelly, the columnist, would have made of his death =
in this war, a war he advocated from the beginning, a war in which he =
willingly and bravely took part. A tragedy? Certainly: From what he =
wrote about his family, his loss to them is too great for words. An =
irony? Absolutely not. Kelly died in the service of a mighty cause in =
which he passionately believed. He died not just as a reporter or a =
pundit, but as a patriot, an American to his core. There is great honor =
in this. The Jerusalem Post mourns him as a columnist, as a thinker, as =
a humane and sensible man and as a mighty pen for the right. May his =
memory be a blessing.=20

      3. THE TEMPTING OF THE PRESIDENT
      by Fred Barnes, executive editor - The Weekly Standard=20
        ADVANCE EDITORIAL from the April 21, 2003 issue: The postwar =
temptations that President Bush must resist. by Fred Barnes=20
      THE UNITED NATIONS is a temptation that's easy to resist. It won't =
enforce its own resolutions. Libya, a police state, chairs its human =
rights commission. It provides an arena where France, with its unearned =
Security Council veto, has enough leverage to pursue a campaign to =
restrain the power--and good works--of the United States. So when =
British prime minister Tony Blair, at the Belfast summit last week, =
pressed for a major role for the U.N. in administering postwar Iraq, =
President Bush had no trouble saying no.=20

      But there are other temptations Bush will soon face in the =
aftermath of the Iraq war that won't be so easy to brush aside. They =
will be dangled in front of the president by friends and allies, and =
they will be alluringly presented as steps he should take to win =
popularity for America, to repair damaged alliances, and to win =
respect--and perhaps a Nobel Peace Prize--for himself. The following are =
four among many temptations that Bush must resist.=20

      Leave Iraq. The president will be under enormous pressure from =
Europeans, Middle East leaders, and top advisers in Washington to =
withdraw American troops and civilian officials from Iraq within months, =
not years. He shouldn't. The military occupation of Japan after World =
War II lasted seven years, and Japan is homogenous, not divided as Iraq =
is among three often hostile ethnic groups. American forces won't need =
to stay that long, but it will take at least a year, maybe two or more, =
to restore order, foster a viable economy, and establish democratic =
institutions with roots deep enough to survive.=20

      From the moment the war ends, Bush (and Blair, too) will be =
confronted with a drumbeat to withdraw. The argument will be that =
America must show it's not bent on erecting a worldwide empire or =
creating a puppet state. The charge of imperialism is frivolous, as is =
the claim the United States fought a war for oil. However, the State =
Department will no doubt treat it seriously and lobby for a quick exit =
to improve America's image and win friends. Meanwhile, the Pentagon, =
both military brass and civilians, will have its own reasons for getting =
out of Iraq: American forces are needed elsewhere in the world, and =
besides, our soldiers are warriors, not policemen. The Pentagon argument =
is a strong one, but the answer is to increase the force structure, not =
to pull out of Iraq precipitously.=20

      Take a breather. The United States has gone to great lengths to =
free Iraq, and the temptation will be to breathe a sigh of relief and =
ignore opportunities to use the influence gained from the triumph. No, =
further countries don't have to be singled out for invasion. It's the =
psychological leverage that shouldn't go to waste. Bush should declare =
Iraq merely the beginning of a full-throttle assault on terrorism and =
weapons of mass destruction. If five years from now Iran is a nuclear =
power, Syria is still harboring terrorists, and Saudi Arabia is =
exporting violent Wahhabism, the opportunity to have made the Iraq war a =
world-changing event will have been missed.=20

      Lean on Israel. This may be the hardest temptation for Bush to =
resist. He'll be inclined to aid Blair, his friend and staunch ally, who =
wants to assuage the Labour party left by forging ahead with the "road =
map" for a peace settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. But not =
only is the road map flawed, the time is not ripe for reaching =
agreement. Despite the appointment of a Palestinian prime minister, =
Yasser Arafat retains his hold on power. In fact, he's now blocking the =
prime minister's naming of a cabinet. With Arafat, there is no chance of =
peace, which is why Bush last June demanded he step aside. It will be =
months, if ever, before Arafat is eased out, and attempting to implement =
the road map immediately could delay that process. Blair has called for =
"even-handedness" in the Middle East, but we know what that means: =
pressure Israel. Blair should be rewarded for his brave support for the =
war, but not this way.=20

      Be magnanimous. The president's postwar impulse will be to act =
generously toward critics and foes, rather than seek revenge. But =
magnanimity should have its limits. First, Bush should take whatever =
political or economic actions are appropriate to reward allies such as =
Australia, Spain, Italy, Poland, and dozens of others. Then, he must =
deal with the apostasy of France. Winking at President Jacques Chirac's =
bid to organize a French-led, international counterweight to American =
power would be a mistake.=20

      The United States has allowed France to exert influence that far =
exceeds its economic or military strength. One source of this power, =
France's U.N. veto, will be curtailed quite naturally as Bush turns away =
from the U.N. as a vehicle for American foreign policy. But it will take =
boldness to dash French power in another arena, the G8 summit of =
industrialized democracies. The G8 is antiquated. Neither France nor =
Canada has an economy that warrants membership. What's needed is a new =
organization that includes representatives of the dollar (U.S.), yen =
(Japan), pound (Great Britain), and euro (Germany), plus Italy and =
nations with rising economies (India, China, Russia). The president may =
balk at going this far, and indeed it would look vengeful. But he should =
at least let the world know that lining up with France against the =
United States will have adverse consequences.=20

      It's a clich=E9 to say the stakes are high in postwar Iraq, but =
it's true. The success of the Bush presidency is conditioned, in part, =
on success in creating a reasonably stable democracy in Iraq and in =
using leverage gained from military victory to curb WMDs and terrorism. =
Both before and during the war, Bush showed great courage in resisting =
temptations to prolong arms inspections, to placate the coalition of the =
unwilling, to appease world opinion, to delay the war, and on and on. =
Great courage will be required once again, this time to resist the =
softer temptations of the postwar world.=20

      4. A CALL TO ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES
      By Stan Goodenough & Jan Willem van der Hoeven
      Jerusalem Newswire - April 10, 2003=20
      As horrendous a toll as the Oslo Process has taken on Israel's =
people and nationhood, an even greater danger lies ahead should its =
leaders agree to accept the Quartet's "Road Map for implementation of a =
permanent solution for two states in the Israel-Palestinian Dispute."=20

      Israel, beware! Instead of charting a path to peace, the Road Map =
leads to a death trap that will spell the destruction of your state. =
Just your agreement to the implementation of this "two-state solution" =
could only lead to a further, unbearable loss of Jewish life.=20

      The Road Map is the perpetuation of the Oslo Process under a =
different name, and we urge you not to talk about it, not to wrangle =
over it, but to resist it with all your might.=20

      A decade ago we balked as the international community hailed the =
signing of an agreement it said would finally bring peace to the Middle =
East. We knew what terrible danger it held for your people.=20

      And for 10 years we have witnessed the direct outcome of that =
'agreement with hell and the grave:' the deaths of over 1,000 Israelis, =
and the wounding and maiming for life of thousands more.=20

      Oslo critically compromised your state's security, and drove a =
wedge of division deep into your nation. Its inevitable collapse =
triggered a terror campaign of Jewish bloodletting unprecedented in the =
history of your reborn national home.=20

      From the moment we heard about the Declaration of Principles, we =
sounded our first warnings. But our cries fell on deaf ears; our =
concerns were dismissed, and we were labeled enemies of peace.=20

      Although we did try, we know we should have done more to persuade =
you to leave the Oslo road. Maybe, just maybe, we could have saved some =
lives.=20

      Yes, we witnessed with you the horrifying debacle resulting from =
the foolish elevation of a known murderer and terrorist to the level of =
statesman and peacemaker. And now we see you preparing to do it again, =
this time by elevating to that level PLO leader Abu Mazen - a Holocaust =
denier and a man who has never expressed contrition for the decades of =
terrorism he helped to direct, and who, as recently as last month, =
publicly condoned the murder of Jewish women and children.=20

      Rather than acknowledging what Oslo graphically exposed as the =
moral and political bankruptcy of "land-for-peace," the international =
community is gearing up to aggressively resume its pursuit of this path =
under a plan partially proposed by Saudi Arabia. And Israel, it looks as =
if you are going to let it happen.=20

      You should be alarmed, Israel. You should be greatly alarmed!=20

      Just as with Oslo, the Road Map legitimizes the fraudulent Arab =
claim to your land and appeases the belligerent party to the conflict, =
while exacting from you the surrender of the cradle of your nationhood =
and the security of your strategic depth, with no guarantees that doing =
so will bring protection and peace to the indefensible scrap of land =
that is all that will be left of your Jewish state.=20

      Oslo, which created a temporary, interim Arab self-administration, =
and which you always had the option to reverse, led to the graves of =
hundreds of your daughters and sons. How much more painful a price will =
the Road Map demand, setting in stone as it does the foundations on =
which an irreversible Arab Islamic state will be erected on your =
God-ordained lands?=20

      The creation of "Palestine" would fly in the face of God's =
promises to settle you permanently on the very "mountains of Israel" =
that are now again to be placed on the table. This historically =
illegitimate state would suggest that God could not keep His promises or =
ensure the outworking of His plans.=20

      We have seen how, especially when you sought to pursue the =
division of your land, terror struck hardest, stopping you literally in =
your tracks on this road to disaster.=20

      But despite these bloody realities, your Prime Minister is =
encouraging efforts to push on in this fateful direction. And you remain =
virtually mute.=20

      You dare not be put to sleep by those who say, "Arik would never =
do this." He is clearly committed to this path, and if he proceeds, he =
will be responsible, as were prime minister's Begin and Rabin, for =
endangering rather than securing your future.=20

      Four times this past year, Mr. Sharon has flouted the message sent =
to him by his own party and then by the Israeli electorate at large, and =
worked to ensure that the lawmakers who oppose a Palestinian state are =
removed from his inner circle. He has told his countrymen he believes =
this state to be inevitable, and he is calling on you to stand with him =
in bringing this about.=20

      Perhaps your prime minister feels, like so many of you do, that =
there is no other way to relieve the continued pressure of the world =
upon him than to acquiesce to the demand for a Palestinian state.=20

      If so, then we want him and you to know that we, as Christian =
Zionists, are willing to fight this battle with the chief of the =
nations, some 71 percent of whose citizens support the war against =
Arafat's brother in arms, Saddam Hussein.=20

      Israel, you have already paid a horrifying price for not =
resolutely stating your claim and right to this land, and for entering =
into agreements with those who are working to usurp that claim.=20

      For those who were deceived by the lie of the Left that there =
could be no way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict except =
through a negotiated settlement, you have just witnessed the United =
States establish another way.=20

      We believe the time has come for you to acknowledge and declare =
that, from the River to the Sea, this is your God-given and God-restored =
land. You owe this to the memory of all Jews who longed for this land =
but were never able to see it, and you owe it to all the Israelis who =
have paid with their lives to live in and defend Eretz Yisrael.=20

      Quartet or no Quartet, we encourage you to follow the righteous =
example set by the United States, which refused to bow to international =
pressure regarding Iraq and did what was in America's best defense and =
interest. So too, you should do what is in your nation's best interest, =
then stand and see the salvation of your God.=20

      We wish also to deliver the following admonition to the United =
States:=20

        We believe that the Lord of all the earth has destined you to be =
the leading power in the world today. Millions of your citizens deeply =
love and worship the God of Israel. Your elected president is a =
self-professed, Bible-believing Christian who has proven to be a man of =
integrity and great courage.=20
        Could it be true that God, in His mercy and goodness, has =
singled out your nation as a channel of blessing, protection and =
deliverance, also because, against the rest of the world, American has =
stood firmly with and behind Israel, causing God to thus far keep His =
holy promise to 'bless them that bless My people?'=20

        How is it then, that while over 70 percent of you are opposed to =
the establishment of a Palestinian state, the leader you elected, and =
whose policies you are empowered to help shape, is leaning dangerously =
in favor of its creation?=20

        Somehow, this same man who faced off against his own Quartet =
partners when it came to liberating the Iraqi people from Saddam =
Hussein, is by all accounts of one mind with this same Quartet when it =
comes to cutting in two the land of Israel and overseeing the creation =
in its heart of a new, despotic, Arab regime?=20

        For this he is already being feted on the world's television =
networks as the first US president to ever verbalize support for a =
viable Palestinian state. On April 8, he told a press conference he is =
ready to put as much effort into implementing the Road Map as Prime =
Minister Blair has poured into the peace process in Northern Ireland.=20

        Earlier we heard the outrageous statements by Secretary of State =
Colin Powell when he asserted that it is still Israel that has not done =
enough in its quest for peace, this despite the fact Israel is still =
prepared to offer the Palestinians a state after all the years of =
terrible suffering at their hands!=20

        Notwithstanding these signs warning of an eventual Bush betrayal =
of Israel, we believe that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was =
gracious to your country when He stiffened the neck of the Security =
Council and kept the United Nations from sharing with you in the glory =
of liberating Iraq.=20

        Had the world body given its full support to Operation Iraqi =
Freedom, the precedent would have been set for the Arab-leaning UN to =
force Israel to surrender half of its land to implacable enemies.=20

        Thank God, nearly all three of the four Quartet members - Old =
Europe, the United Nations and Russia - were found wanting when it came =
to supporting the valiant, US-led efforts to rid this world of Saddam =
and his weapons of mass destruction.=20

        But the danger is not past. Great Britain, which did stand with =
you and sent its men and women to fight alongside yours in Iraq, is a =
primary proponent of "Palestine."=20

        Prime Minister Blair, distressed by the rifts opened in the =
international community over Iraq, has identified the vigorous =
implementation of the Road Map as the best remedy for healing this =
division, and especially for placating the infuriated Arab states.=20

        But America take note! Offering up Israel to placate the =
oil-rich, terrorist-sponsoring Arab states will be no less an historic =
injustice and a crime against the people of Israel, than the appeasing =
of Nazi Germany by offering up Czechoslovakia was a felony against the =
people of that state. You know what that cowardice cost the world.=20

        When three of your soldiers were killed by a car bomb in Iraq, =
you tasted just one hundredth of what the people of Israel have had =
leveled against them in the past two years. Instead of perversely, for =
reasons of political and or economic expediency, helping the PLO =
establish another Israel and American-hating terrorist state on Jewish =
lands, basic decency and fairness demand that you give Israel as free a =
hand to fight its war against terror as you have had to fight yours, and =
that you support her in this fight as unconditionally as she has =
supported you.=20

        America beware. Your nation's persistent pursuit of the Road Map =
will take you from blessing Israel to cursing her. The price you will =
pay may include the end of the era of your prosperity and the removal =
from you of the glorious mantle of world leadership.=20

        We urge you to recognize the new realities and opportunities =
that your steadfast determination to go against Iraq has opened up in =
the world. We would plead with you to seize the historic day that lies =
before you, and instead of patching up the old, discredited alliances, =
encourage you to align yourself fully with Israel, and with the rest of =
the coalition of the willing. If you do, the blessings that will come to =
your nation will outshine anything that you have ever known.=20

        After September 11 you told the world that it was either with =
you or against you in your war against terror. Israel is fully with =
America. Are you, fully, with her?

      5.   QUOTES AND QUICK NOTES
        =93[W]hy do we so mistrust Europe?=85 In 1967, when Israel was =
on the verge of being overrun=85the French, our main arms provider, =
imposed an arms embargo, abandoning Israel to its fate.
        In 1973, when Israel was under attack from all sides, no =
European country except Portugal=85would grant the U.S. overflight =
rights to rush to us emergency supplies=85=20
        Much fresher still, however, is perhaps the greatest betrayal of =
all, the one that continues until this moment. In 2000, Israel finally =
did what Europe has been pressing for over three decades: it put on the =
table an offer of Palestinian statehood over some 97% of the =
territories. The Palestinian counter-offer? A terrorist offensive that =
continues to this day. As Israeli civilians were pounded by attack after =
grisly attack, Europe=92s media and political leadership did not rush to =
our defense. Nor were they particularly evenhanded=85 Your colleague =
Louis Michel of Belgium stood on the tarmac of the Brussels airport and =
sent the Palestinians supplies. Your colleague Chris Patten of the =
European Commission refused to countenance the idea that the Karine A =
might have something to do with Yasser Arafat=85 Leading European =
intellectuals came to Arafat=92s court to express their =91solidarity=92
        =85 Why does Europe not count for Israel?... Because Europe has =
no money in its moral bank account=85 Because when the chips have been =
down for us in the past, it was always the U.S., and never Europe, that =
came to our rescue=85=94

      6.   HIGHLIGHT ARTICLES
        a.. A Map to National Disaster The road map is a huge prize for =
terror. In its wake the Palestinians will not only achieve their =
strategic goals, but will reach a clear conclusion: terror pays. They =
will get all the concessions we shower on them, organize themselves with =
money they get from the world and us, rebuild their terror units and =
attack us at the moment convenient for them.=20
        b.. An Unwanted Situation All we can do is that which the =
nation of Israel and the army of Israel have striven again and again to =
do, to make our resistance as humane as possible; i.e., to avoid =
injuring the innocent, to work everywhere to diminish violence and not =
increase it, and to try to be as humane as possible to our enemy, in the =
hope that they will eventually choose the way of peace.=20
        c.. Why Christians Support Israel Whether religious or secular =
in nature, a deep support for Israel resonates with millions of =
Christians.=20
        d.. Israel Can't Win for Losing Have you noticed the further =
Israel bends over backward to achieve peace with its neighbors, the more =
excuses those neighbors find for maintaining a state of war?=20

      <H3>1. &nbsp;&nbsp;<A name=3D1>PRESIDENT BUSH: DON'T ASK ISRAEL TO =
MAKE=20
      FURTHER CONCESSIONS</A></H3>By Beth Kennedy - Israelinsider.com - =
April=20
      11, 2003=20
      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>A</FONT>n open letter sent to =
President=20
      Bush...=20
      <P>Dear Mr. President,=20
      <P>I stand and cheer your handling of the War on Terror. You are =
doing a=20
      masterful job! Your strategy has been excellent. A key component =
of that=20
      strategy is the fact that you have held terrorists, and the =
countries that=20
      harbor them, accountable. You are putting the full force of the =
United=20
      States behind what you say, defending those principles that have =
made this=20
      country great.=20
      <P>For instance, you have never met with Yasser Arafat, a true =
terrorist.=20
      That is a fine distinction that needed to be made: the President =
of the=20
      United States will neither meet with, nor entertain, terrorists. =
Again,=20
      your handling of the world situation shows keen insight and much =
needed=20
      perspective.=20
      <P>However, I wish to point out to you one issue that is very near =
and=20
      dear to my heart: namely, the security and prosperity of Israel. I =
am a=20
      Christian Zionist. At the invitation of a friend from Baltimore, I =

      recently had the pleasure of attending the day-long conference of =
the=20
      Orthodox Union in D.C. We heard clear, insightful things, spoken =
by some=20
      of the many top-notch people within your administration.=20
      <P>Elliot Abrams spoke frankly and knowledgeably on the Middle =
East. He=20
      repeatedly assured the crowd that the Road Map would not, and =
could not,=20
      be put into place until the Palestinian leadership produces and =
functions=20
      as a true partner.=20
      <P>I simply wish to register my concern that, once the immediate =
conflict=20
      in Iraq is behind us, the world community, as led by the Quartet, =
of which=20
      we're part, will demand that the State of Israel make concession =
upon=20
      concession. I don't want to see that happen. This strong =
diplomatic=20
      tendency must be balanced with a realistic appraisal of the =
Palestinian=20
      leadership, and not with a white washed, optimistic one for =
political=20
      expedience.=20
      <P>For instance, in a recent speech, you asked the Israeli =
leadership to=20
      forego further settlement activity. However, according to the =
various=20
      Israeli-Palestinian agreements, any settlement activity remains =
directly=20
      negotiable between the Israelis and Palestinians. Nothing has been =

      negotiated that would presently limit Israel regarding Israeli =
settlement.=20
      Furthermore, mechanisms have already been established as part of =
the=20
      current peace process to arrive at the practical resolution of =
this issue.=20
      Thus, by overlooking these agreements, the U.S. position initially =
demands=20
      a concession from Israel.=20
      <P>So, what are the Palestinians conceding? No more terrorism? But =
the use=20
      of terror was already supposed to stop as part of the Oslo Accord, =
which=20
      Arafat signed. Are they conceding democratic leadership with free, =
open=20
      elections? But that was already supposed to be implemented as part =
of the=20
      Hebron Protocol, which he also signed.=20
      <P>Did you know that the Palestinians have built 261 settlements =
in the=20
      West Bank since 1967? No one seems to mention these. But, during =
the same=20
      time period, only 144 Jewish settlements have been built in all of =
the=20
      disputed areas, including Gaza and the land surrounding Jerusalem, =
as well=20
      as the West Bank. Look at the difference between those two =
numbers!=20
      <P>The way I see it, we are demanding further concessions from =
Israel,=20
      while only requiring the Palestinians to abide by previous =
commitments.=20
      Not only does this strike me as being grossly unfair, but tragic =
as well.=20
      <P>Why are we treating the only democracy in the Middle East, and =
our very=20
      good partner and constant ally, this way?=20
      <P>The Palestinian leadership falls terribly short of being any =
kind of=20
      true negotiating partner. It may take many years before they =
actually=20
      arrive at that place.=20
      <P>Please remember that, between 1948 and 1967, there had been no =
call for=20
      a Palestinian State. Jordan and Egypt controlled the land they had =
gained=20
      during Israel's War for Independence. They did not give the areas =
they=20
      occupied to the Palestinians then, and it didn't seem to be a =
problem. It=20
      wasn't until Israel had won those lands in the Six Day War that =
Arab=20
      voices started crying "occupation" and the PLO, the PFLP, and =
other groups=20
      began their reign of international terror.=20
      <P>To force the Road Map solution on Israel would not only amount =
to=20
      double-dealing, but treachery bordering on political fratricide. =
These are=20
      our brothers and sisters. Then, too, we would be repeating Oslo's =
tragic=20
      mistake: directly rewarding terrorism.=20
      <P>As you well know, the French recently tried to embarrass and =
hurt us=20
      politically. Yet, in the end, they did no damage to us. Why? =
Because we=20
      were right and they were wrong. You had the moral clarity and =
leadership=20
      skill to lead this nation through a political mine field.=20
      <P>On the other hand, however well-intentioned, imposition of the =
Road Map=20
      would irreparably HURT Israel, in a way far worse than anything =
that=20
      arrogant French diplomacy could ever do to us. And I fear it will =
only=20
      backfire and hurt this country in the long run.=20
      <P>I know that you read the same book of Genesis that I do; I =
appeal to=20
      your faith. You know as well as I that God gave the land of Canaan =
to=20
      Israel a long time ago. Who are we to now tell them what parts =
they can=20
      and can't have?=20
      <P>Please think about this.=20
      <P>Again, I think you are doing a wonderful job. I wish you =
continued=20
      health and strength, knowing that the Lord watches us, not from a=20
      distance, but holds us in the palm of His hand. May God continue =
blessing=20
      America and your administration.=20

      <H3>2. &nbsp;&nbsp;<A name=3D2>'MICHAEL KELLY, =
1957-2003'</A></H3>Jerusalem=20
      Post Editorial: Apr. 5, 2003=20
      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2><STRONG>"I</STRONG></FONT> am =
Catholic and=20
      my wife is Jewish, so in our house we celebrate both Hanukka and=20
      Christmas, which our sons, Tom and Jack, regard as an excellent =
thing.=20
      People sometimes ask me if it is hard to raise children in respect =
and=20
      love for two great faiths that have a slight doctrinal =
disagreement=20
      between them, and I say: Not if you give them presents every day =
for eight=20
      days of Hanukka and for Christmas. The more Gods, the merrier is =
Tom and=20
      Jack's strong belief."=20
      <P>So wrote Washington Post columnist and Atlantic Monthly =
editor-at-large=20
      Michael Kelly, in a column dated December 12, 2001. On Thursday, =
Kelly=20
      filed another another dispatch, this one from Iraq, which ran on =
the front=20
      page of this newspaper.
      <P>"Near the crest of the bridge across the Euphrates River that =
Task=20
      Force 3-69 Armor of the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division =
seized=20
      Wednesday afternoon, was a body which lay twisted from its fall.=20
      <P>"He had been an old man, judging from his blood-matted gray =
hair, and=20
      he was poor and not a regular soldier, judging from his clothes. =
He was=20
      lying on his back, not far from one of several burning skeletons =
of the=20
      small trucks that Saddam Hussein's willing and unwilling =
irregulars=20
      employed. The tanks and Bradleys and Humvees and bulldozers and =
rocket=20
      launchers, and all the rest of the massive stuff that makes up the =
United=20
      States Army on the march, rumbled past him, pushing on."=20
      <P>The report ran under the headline, "No surprises, no =
casualties, no=20
      trouble for Task Force 3-69." The next day, Kelly was killed when =
his=20
      Humvee overturned, making him the first American reporter to die =
in the=20
      conflict thus far.=20
      <P>As the passages quoted above show, Kelly combined things not =
often=20
      found together in a journalist: decency, clear-sightedness, good =
humor,=20
      and an immense talent for writing. All were reflected in nearly =
everything=20
      he published, one reason why The Jerusalem Post began running his =
column=20
      earlier this year. Kelly was also rare in another sense: A =
Democrat in the=20
      old-fashioned Irish way, he was also a vocal proponent of this =
war, and he=20
      had no patience for the fashionable postures pacifist, =
anti-American,=20
      anti-Israel of the radical Left.=20
      <P>"I understand why some dislike the idea, and fear the =
ramifications, of=20
      America as a liberator," he wrote from Kuwait on February 26. "But =
I do=20
      not understand why they do not see that anything is better than =
life with=20
      your face under the boot. And that any rescue of a people under =
the boot=20
      (be they Afghan, Kuwaiti or Iraqi) is something to be desired. =
Even if the=20
      rescue is less than perfectly realized. Even if the rescuer is a =
great,=20
      overmuscled, bossy, selfish oaf. Or would you, for yourself, =
choose the=20
      boot?"=20
      <P>Or take a column he wrote about Israel, a month before the =
September 11=20
      attacks: "Now the other great founding myth of the peace process =
is also=20
      dead. This is the great falsehood of relative morality. For =
decades, the=20
      European Left has maintained that the Palestinians held a morally =
superior=20
      position to the Israelis: They were an illegally subjugated people =
who=20
      were striking back in what may have been violent but were also =
appropriate=20
      ways. The claim of Palestinian moral superiority ended when the =
world saw=20
      Palestinians cheer in the street a young man holding up hands red =
with the=20
      blood of an Israeli soldier beaten to death, or perhaps it was =
when=20
      Palestinians stomped two boys, one a US citizen, to death in a =
cave, or=20
      perhaps it was some other moment of gross and gleeful murder."=20
      <P>Remarkable about these columns is their plainspokenness. Kelly =
was a=20
      writer of enormous gifts; gifts that, in another writer, would be =
turned=20
      to archness, irony, equivocation, and counterpoise. But very much =
like=20
      George Orwell, his style was entirely in the service of his point, =
and his=20
      point was always forceful, clear, and morally informed. Kelly did =
not=20
      traffic in exquisite neutralities. He believed there was such a =
thing as=20
      "the good guys." And he stood by them, against the bad guys, and =
against=20
      those who pretended there wasn't a choice to be made between them. =

      <P>We wonder what Kelly, the columnist, would have made of his =
death in=20
      this war, a war he advocated from the beginning, a war in which he =

      willingly and bravely took part. A tragedy? Certainly: From what =
he wrote=20
      about his family, his loss to them is too great for words. An =
irony?=20
      Absolutely not. Kelly died in the service of a mighty cause in =
which he=20
      passionately believed. He died not just as a reporter or a pundit, =
but as=20
      a patriot, an American to his core. There is great honor in this. =
The=20
      Jerusalem Post mourns him as a columnist, as a thinker, as a =
humane and=20
      sensible man and as a mighty pen for the right. May his memory be =
a=20
      blessing.=20

UNITED NATIONS=20
      is a temptation that's easy to resist. It won't enforce its own=20
      resolutions. Libya, a police state, chairs its human rights =
commission. It=20
      provides an arena where France, with its unearned Security Council =
veto,=20
      has enough leverage to pursue a campaign to restrain the =
power--and good=20
      works--of the United States. So when British prime minister Tony =
Blair, at=20
      the Belfast summit last week, pressed for a major role for the =
U.N. in=20
      administering postwar Iraq, President Bush had no trouble saying =
no.=20
      <P>But there are other temptations Bush will soon face in the =
aftermath of=20
      the Iraq war that won't be so easy to brush aside. They will be =
dangled in=20
      front of the president by friends and allies, and they will be =
alluringly=20
      presented as steps he should take to win popularity for America, =
to repair=20
      damaged alliances, and to win respect--and perhaps a Nobel Peace=20
      Prize--for himself. The following are four among many temptations =
that=20
      Bush must resist.=20
      <P><B><I>Leave Iraq. </I></B>The president will be under enormous =
pressure=20
      from Europeans, Middle East leaders, and top advisers in =
Washington to=20
      withdraw American troops and civilian officials from Iraq within =
months,=20
      not years. He shouldn't. The military occupation of Japan after =
World War=20
      II lasted seven years, and Japan is homogenous, not divided as =
Iraq is=20
      among three often hostile ethnic groups. American forces won't =
need to=20
      stay that long, but it will take at least a year, maybe two or =
more, to=20
      restore order, foster a viable economy, and establish democratic=20
      institutions with roots deep enough to survive.=20
      <P>From the moment the war ends, Bush (and Blair, too) will be =
confronted=20
      with a drumbeat to withdraw. The argument will be that America =
must show=20
      it's not bent on erecting a worldwide empire or creating a puppet =
state.=20
      The charge of imperialism is frivolous, as is the claim the United =
States=20
      fought a war for oil. However, the State Department will no doubt =
treat it=20
      seriously and lobby for a quick exit to improve America's image =
and win=20
      friends. Meanwhile, the Pentagon, both military brass and =
civilians, will=20
      have its own reasons for getting out of Iraq: American forces are =
needed=20
      elsewhere in the world, and besides, our soldiers are warriors, =
not=20
      policemen. The Pentagon argument is a strong one, but the answer =
is to=20
      increase the force structure, not to pull out of Iraq =
precipitously.=20
      <P><B><I>Take a breather. </I></B>The United States has gone to =
great=20
      lengths to free Iraq, and the temptation will be to breathe a sigh =
of=20
      relief and ignore opportunities to use the influence gained from =
the=20
      triumph. No, further countries don't have to be singled out for =
invasion.=20
      It's the psychological leverage that shouldn't go to waste. Bush =
should=20
      declare Iraq merely the beginning of a full-throttle assault on =
terrorism=20
      and weapons of mass destruction. If five years from now Iran is a =
nuclear=20
      power, Syria is still harboring terrorists, and Saudi Arabia is =
exporting=20
      violent Wahhabism, the opportunity to have made the Iraq war a=20
      world-changing event will have been missed.=20
      <P><B><I>Lean on Israel.</I></B> This may be the hardest =
temptation for=20
      Bush to resist. He'll be inclined to aid Blair, his friend and =
staunch=20
      ally, who wants to assuage the Labour party left by forging ahead =
with the=20
      "road map" for a peace settlement between Israel and the =
Palestinians. But=20
      not only is the road map flawed, the time is not ripe for reaching =

      agreement. Despite the appointment of a Palestinian prime =
minister, Yasser=20
      Arafat retains his hold on power. In fact, he's now blocking the =
prime=20
      minister's naming of a cabinet. With Arafat, there is no chance of =
peace,=20
      which is why Bush last June demanded he step aside. It will be =
months, if=20
      ever, before Arafat is eased out, and attempting to implement the =
road map=20
      immediately could delay that process. Blair has called for=20
      "even-handedness" in the Middle East, but we know what that means: =

      pressure Israel. Blair should be rewarded for his brave support =
for the=20
      war, but not this way.=20
      <P><B><I>Be magnanimous. </I></B>The president's postwar impulse =
will be=20
      to act generously toward critics and foes, rather than seek =
revenge. But=20
      magnanimity should have its limits. First, Bush should take =
whatever=20
      political or economic actions are appropriate to reward allies =
such as=20
      Australia, Spain, Italy, Poland, and dozens of others. Then, he =
must deal=20
      with the apostasy of France. Winking at President Jacques Chirac's =
bid to=20
      organize a French-led, international counterweight to American =
power would=20
      be a mistake.=20
      <P>The United States has allowed France to exert influence that =
far=20
      exceeds its economic or military strength. One source of this =
power,=20
      France's U.N. veto, will be curtailed quite naturally as Bush =
turns away=20
      from the U.N. as a vehicle for American foreign policy. But it =
will take=20
      boldness to dash French power in another arena, the G8 summit of=20
      industrialized democracies. The G8 is antiquated. Neither France =
nor=20
      Canada has an economy that warrants membership. What's needed is a =
new=20
      organization that includes representatives of the dollar (U.S.), =
yen=20
      (Japan), pound (Great Britain), and euro (Germany), plus Italy and =
nations=20
      with rising economies (India, China, Russia). The president may =
balk at=20
      going this far, and indeed it would look vengeful. But he should =
at least=20
      let the world know that lining up with France against the United =
States=20
      will have adverse consequences.=20
      <P>It's a clich=E9 to say the stakes are high in postwar Iraq, but =
it's=20
      true. The success of the Bush presidency is conditioned, in part, =
on=20
      success in creating a reasonably stable democracy in Iraq and in =
using=20
      leverage gained from military victory to curb WMDs and terrorism. =
Both=20
      before and during the war, Bush showed great courage in resisting=20
      temptations to prolong arms inspections, to placate the coalition =
of the=20
      unwilling, to appease world opinion, to delay the war, and on and =
on.=20
      Great courage will be required once again, this time to resist the =
softer=20
      temptations of the postwar world.=20

      <P><FONT color=3D#800000 size=3D+2>A</FONT>s horrendous a toll as =
the Oslo=20
      Process has taken on Israel's people and nationhood, an even =
greater=20
      danger lies ahead should its leaders agree to accept the Quartet's =
"Road=20
      Map for implementation of a permanent solution for two states in =
the=20
      Israel-Palestinian Dispute."=20
      <P><B>Israel, beware!</B> Instead of charting a path to peace, the =
Road=20
      Map leads to a death trap that will spell the destruction of your =
state.=20
      Just your agreement to the implementation of this "two-state =
solution"=20
      could only lead to a further, unbearable loss of Jewish life.=20
      <P>The Road Map is the perpetuation of the Oslo Process under a =
different=20
      name, and we urge you not to talk about it, not to wrangle over =
it, but to=20
      resist it with all your might.=20
      <P>A decade ago we balked as the international community hailed =
the=20
      signing of an agreement it said would finally bring peace to the =
Middle=20
      East. We knew what terrible danger it held for your people.=20
      <P>And for 10 years we have witnessed the direct outcome of that=20
      'agreement with hell and the grave:' the deaths of over 1,000 =
Israelis,=20
      and the wounding and maiming for life of thousands more.=20
      <P>Oslo critically compromised your state's security, and drove a =
wedge of=20
      division deep into your nation. Its inevitable collapse triggered =
a terror=20
      campaign of Jewish bloodletting unprecedented in the history of =
your=20
      reborn national home.=20
      <P>From the moment we heard about the Declaration of Principles, =
we=20
      sounded our first warnings. But our cries fell on deaf ears; our =
concerns=20
      were dismissed, and we were labeled enemies of peace.=20
      <P>Although we did try, we know we should have done more to =
persuade you=20
      to leave the Oslo road. Maybe, just maybe, we could have saved =
some lives.=20

      <P>Yes, we witnessed with you the horrifying debacle resulting =
from the=20
      foolish elevation of a known murderer and terrorist to the level =
of=20
      statesman and peacemaker. And now we see you preparing to do it =
again,=20
      this time by elevating to that level PLO leader Abu Mazen - a =
Holocaust=20
      denier and a man who has never expressed contrition for the =
decades of=20
      terrorism he helped to direct, and who, as recently as last month, =

      publicly condoned the murder of Jewish women and children.=20
      <P>Rather than acknowledging what Oslo graphically exposed as the =
moral=20
      and political bankruptcy of "land-for-peace," the international =
community=20
      is gearing up to aggressively resume its pursuit of this path =
under a plan=20
      partially proposed by Saudi Arabia. And Israel, it looks as if you =
are=20
      going to let it happen.=20
      <P><B>You should be alarmed, Israel. You should be greatly =
alarmed!</B>=20
      <P>Just as with Oslo, the Road Map legitimizes the fraudulent Arab =
claim=20
      to your land and appeases the belligerent party to the conflict, =
while=20
      exacting from you the surrender of the cradle of your nationhood =
and the=20
      security of your strategic depth, with no guarantees that doing so =
will=20
      bring protection and peace to the indefensible scrap of land that =
is all=20
      that will be left of your Jewish state.=20
      <P>Oslo, which created a temporary, interim Arab =
self-administration, and=20
      which you always had the option to reverse, led to the graves of =
hundreds=20
      of your daughters and sons. How much more painful a price will the =
Road=20
      Map demand, setting in stone as it does the foundations on which =
an=20
      irreversible Arab Islamic state will be erected on your =
God-ordained=20
      lands?=20
      <P>The creation of "Palestine" would fly in the face of God's =
promises to=20
      settle you permanently on the very "mountains of Israel" that are =
now=20
      again to be placed on the table. This historically illegitimate =
state=20
      would suggest that God could not keep His promises or ensure the=20
      outworking of His plans.=20
      <P>We have seen how, especially when you sought to pursue the =
division of=20
      your land, terror struck hardest, stopping you literally in your =
tracks on=20
      this road to disaster.=20
      <P>But despite these bloody realities, your Prime Minister is =
encouraging=20
      efforts to push on in this fateful direction. And you remain =
virtually=20
      mute.=20
      <P>You dare not be put to sleep by those who say, "Arik would =
never do=20
      this." He is clearly committed to this path, and if he proceeds, =
he will=20
      be responsible, as were prime minister's Begin and Rabin, for =
endangering=20
      rather than securing your future.=20
      <P>Four times this past year, Mr. Sharon has flouted the message =
sent to=20
      him by his own party and then by the Israeli electorate at large, =
and=20
      worked to ensure that the lawmakers who oppose a Palestinian state =
are=20
      removed from his inner circle. He has told his countrymen he =
believes this=20
      state to be inevitable, and he is calling on you to stand with him =
in=20
      bringing this about.=20
      <P>Perhaps your prime minister feels, like so many of you do, that =
there=20
      is no other way to relieve the continued pressure of the world =
upon him=20
      than to acquiesce to the demand for a Palestinian state.=20
      <P>If so, then we want him and you to know that we, as Christian =
Zionists,=20
      are willing to fight this battle with the chief of the nations, =
some 71=20
      percent of whose citizens support the war against Arafat's brother =
in=20
      arms, Saddam Hussein.=20
      <P>Israel, you have already paid a horrifying price for not =
resolutely=20
      stating your claim and right to this land, and for entering into=20
      agreements with those who are working to usurp that claim.=20
      <P>For those who were deceived by the lie of the Left that there =
could be=20
      no way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict except through =
a=20
      negotiated settlement, you have just witnessed the United States =
establish=20
      another way.=20
      <P>We believe the time has come for you to acknowledge and declare =
that,=20
      from the River to the Sea, this is your God-given and God-restored =
land.=20
      You owe this to the memory of all Jews who longed for this land =
but were=20
      never able to see it, and you owe it to all the Israelis who have =
paid=20
      with their lives to live in and defend Eretz Yisrael.=20
      <P>Quartet or no Quartet, we encourage you to follow the righteous =
example=20
      set by the United States, which refused to bow to international =
pressure=20
      regarding Iraq and did what was in America's best defense and =
interest. So=20
      too, you should do what is in your nation's best interest, then =
stand and=20
      see the salvation of your God.=20
      <P>We wish also to deliver the following admonition to the United =
States:=20
      <BLOCKQUOTE>We believe that the Lord of all the earth has destined =
you=20
        to be the leading power in the world today. Millions of your =
citizens=20
        deeply love and worship the God of Israel. Your elected =
president is a=20
        self-professed, Bible-believing Christian who has proven to be a =
man of=20
        integrity and great courage.=20
        <P>Could it be true that God, in His mercy and goodness, has =
singled out=20
        your nation as a channel of blessing, protection and =
deliverance, also=20
        because, against the rest of the world, American has stood =
firmly with=20
        and behind Israel, causing God to thus far keep His holy promise =
to=20
        'bless them that bless My people?'=20
        <P>How is it then, that while over 70 percent of you are opposed =
to the=20
        establishment of a Palestinian state, the leader you elected, =
and whose=20
        policies you are empowered to help shape, is leaning dangerously =
in=20
        favor of its creation?=20
        <P>Somehow, this same man who faced off against his own Quartet =
partners=20
        when it came to liberating the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein, =
is by=20
        all accounts of one mind with this same Quartet when it comes to =
cutting=20
        in two the land of Israel and overseeing the creation in its =
heart of a=20
        new, despotic, Arab regime?=20
        <P>For this he is already being feted on the world's television =
networks=20
        as the first US president to ever verbalize support for a viable =

        Palestinian state. On April 8, he told a press conference he is =
ready to=20
        put as much effort into implementing the Road Map as Prime =
Minister=20
        Blair has poured into the peace process in Northern Ireland.=20
        <P>Earlier we heard the outrageous statements by Secretary of =
State=20
        Colin Powell when he asserted that it is still Israel that has =
not done=20
        enough in its quest for peace, this despite the fact Israel is =
still=20
        prepared to offer the Palestinians a state after all the years =
of=20
        terrible suffering at their hands!=20
        <P>Notwithstanding these signs warning of an eventual Bush =
betrayal of=20
        Israel, we believe that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was =
gracious=20
        to your country when He stiffened the neck of the Security =
Council and=20
        kept the United Nations from sharing with you in the glory of =
liberating=20
        Iraq.=20
        <P>Had the world body given its full support to Operation Iraqi =
Freedom,=20
        the precedent would have been set for the Arab-leaning UN to =
force=20
        Israel to surrender half of its land to implacable enemies.=20
        <P>Thank God, nearly all three of the four Quartet members - Old =
Europe,=20
        the United Nations and Russia - were found wanting when it came =
to=20
        supporting the valiant, US-led efforts to rid this world of =
Saddam and=20
        his weapons of mass destruction.=20
        <P>But the danger is not past. Great Britain, which did stand =
with you=20
        and sent its men and women to fight alongside yours in Iraq, is =
a=20
        primary proponent of "Palestine."=20
        <P>Prime Minister Blair, distressed by the rifts opened in the=20
        international community over Iraq, has identified the vigorous=20
        implementation of the Road Map as the best remedy for healing =
this=20
        division, and especially for placating the infuriated Arab =
states.=20
        <P>But America take note! Offering up Israel to placate the =
oil-rich,=20
        terrorist-sponsoring Arab states will be no less an historic =
injustice=20
        and a crime against the people of Israel, than the appeasing of =
Nazi=20
        Germany by offering up Czechoslovakia was a felony against the =
people of=20
        that state. You know what that cowardice cost the world.=20
        <P>When three of your soldiers were killed by a car bomb in =
Iraq, you=20
        tasted just one hundredth of what the people of Israel have had =
leveled=20
        against them in the past two years. Instead of perversely, for =
reasons=20
        of political and or economic expediency, helping the PLO =
establish=20
        another Israel and American-hating terrorist state on Jewish =
lands,=20
        basic decency and fairness demand that you give Israel as free a =
hand to=20
        fight its war against terror as you have had to fight yours, and =
that=20
        you support her in this fight as unconditionally as she has =
supported=20
        you.=20
        <P>America beware. Your nation's persistent pursuit of the Road =
Map will=20
        take you from blessing Israel to cursing her. The price you will =
pay may=20
        include the end of the era of your prosperity and the removal =
from you=20
        of the glorious mantle of world leadership.=20
        <P>We urge you to recognize the new realities and opportunities =
that=20
        your steadfast determination to go against Iraq has opened up in =
the=20
        world. We would plead with you to seize the historic day that =
lies=20
        before you, and instead of patching up the old, discredited =
alliances,=20
        encourage you to align yourself fully with Israel, and with the =
rest of=20
        the coalition of the willing. If you do, the blessings that will =
come to=20
        your nation will outshine anything that you have ever known.=20
        <P>After September 11 you told the world that it was either with =
you or=20
        against you in your war against terror. Israel is fully with =
America.=20
