[AGL] Fwd: Texans and guns

A gun to buy. Academy has a nifty 16 gage single shot with interchangeable 
barrels. !6 gage and 22 cal. very nice and it is small and compact. Good for 
varmints. @0 gage is OK too but not a show stopper. I use a 30 cal. carbine 
with a folding stock and a 22 Sportsman revolver as my shooting devices of 
choice.

Yesterday in the sleet the next door rancher Dan and I after trying to start 
the dozer for a half hour, wandered up to one of his first hog traps and low 
and behold there were three Aoudads in the thing. No hogs. We do not like 
sheep here, sort of a throw back to the range wars of Western Pulp Fiction. 
As we watched from the hill we discussed what to do with the damn things? 
Mutton is not high on the list of eating here in Deer Corn. We both agreed 
the  stuff taste like sheep dung mixed with wool and urine. Unless there is 
some recipe that makes it taste good?  There is a guy in Deer Corn who 
claims to make sausage out of the things, lots of port fat to kill the taste 
and spices.

The pit we have is already full with five  Aoudads in it from last week and 
the buzzards wouldn't even eat them.The buzzards may have migrated to Uvalde 
we aren't sure? We discussed sending the sheep to HAMAS or Hezbollah via UPS 
and chucked a lot on that one.

These are so called exotic animals which were imported to the Abilene in the 
fifties for hunting purposes. They are a real pestilence, they have pushed 
the big horn sheep and the javelina out. They are worse than deer  on 
gardens since they don't browse but clear cut. We have six traps set up and 
feeders. The state wildlife biologist  was here again this week made another 
  pronouncement that we need to cull the Aoudads and Pigs. There is a herd 
of hogs on the ridge that has at least a dozen members. There are fifty or 
sixty Aoudads on the range here. Dan shot a Black Buck day  before yesterday 
that had gotten into one of the traps.  The biologist visited all the traps 
and  alowed as how we ought to cut off the tops so the deer that get in can 
jump out and we will do that next Monday. We  have to borrow Woody's welder 
and rig but it is no big deal.

Life in South Texas is always a hoot, never dull or boring.
