Jeeze, Wayne,
I wasn't aware of that possibility. I've avoided cranberry laced products and the juice. But I am going to be more vigilant about it since reading your post.
Thanks for explaining the reason for caution.
Best,
Frances

I hope your (local?) doctor warned you about the potential seriousness of your cranberry pill reaction. To wit, your body ....and it's Classic symptoms....now has an extreme sensitivity to certain proteins in cranberrys. This is, sadly, irreversible. Never goes away and can lead to potentially fatal anaphylaxis. (You know. The condition where you go into shock and swell up like a balloon...outside AND inside...and die without ER treatment.) Just as can happen to people who develop bee-sting allergies. One doctor of ours, many years ago, recommended carryng around "highest strength" over-the-counter antihistamine such as Benedryl as a First Aid remedy. Something to keep the histamine reaction slowed down until the paramedics and/or ambulance arrives.
Do NOT assume that you by just "being careful" you will always avoid cranberry/cranberry products.
For the straight skinny: Merck's Manual of Medical Information - Ch. 169 or the ever popular Physician's Desk Reference. Or call or visit your local Allergist.

As an added precaution, avoid any considering any suggestions by people like GS or those who practice homeopathy/ad nauseum. Think: Snake Oil and stay alive.
