Walt and I had discussions on this topic as we put each of three people
on the plane for the holidays ( and we encouraged each of them to leave
anything that might put them at risk in our hands for safekeeping).  My
informal survey of recent airport experience is that each is different -
I have heard tales of body searches, and then there was my mother, who
was allowed on the plane with a carryon filled with heavy silver
candlesticks and four dozen home-made tamales.
