Dear Mister Wonderful,
I recently wrote an epic poem, and am working on editing it. Having
re-read the thing and fiddled with typos and such, my overall impression
is this: it's not a very important piece of work!
Should I try to re-work this epic into something with more profound
meaning, or should I just leave it alone and let it be a representation
of how goofy and insignificant my life really is?
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Signed,
The Ancient Mariner

Dear Walt Whitman's Sampler,
Jeez Louise, my dear! Are you possibly under the impression that the
Goofy and Insignificant are *unimportant*? Have I taught you nothing?
Did not the day-in-the-life/stream-of-consciousness work of James Joyce,
e.g. "Ulysses," show us that writers are buggier than batshit? O Yes.
The only true test of importance, literature-wise, is Time. Which is
why we stole the Time Machine. Believe me, by 2012, "Mister Wonderful
Answers All: The Annotated Archives" will be bigger than Jesus -- so
long as Robert Rodriguez honors his promise to film "The Passion of the
Wonder." I know where the bodies are buried, Roberto. APE LAW!
Anyway. Point is. Don't sweat it. Epic poetry is still very sexy,
and you should get throngs of screaming drippies (dripping screamies?)
at your door within days, no matter how you slice it.
