dear mister wonderful,

okay, um.. a FRIEND of mine found this really intriguing, smart, funny
and damn cute guy. but, it turns out he was born a chick, and is in the
process of getting a sex change. well, my FRIEND was kinda freaked out
for a day or two, but got over it, and now they are planning their
second date..

the question is this: what the heck kinda relationship is she possibly
going to be in? a hetero relationship? a lesbian relationship?
something in between? does it matter?

Dear Friend to the Stars,

Wow. That's impressive. Not only because it speaks volumes about the
progress we have made in this century towards tolerance and transcending
the boundaries of gender but also because even Mister Wonderful hasn't
dated a trannie and he's actually quite jealous.

Remember that query last year about Salma Hayek with Ewan McGregor's
penis? Yowza.

The trouble with labels, and indeed the whole of sexual taxonomy, is
that they are predicated on the idea that there are discrete differences
in sexuality and sexual identity. But ever since Mister Wonderful's
second-favorite entomologist, Alfred Kinsey, published his naughty
little statistics in the late forties we've known that sexuality is a
continuum, a sliding scale that shifts and changes for each individual
depending on when they last saw a Cary Grant picture. Your sexual
preference is a wave, not a particle. "Gay", "Lesbian", "Straight" -
these are all illusions, misleading labels, Orwellian doublespeak, words
that pretend to describe something real, but actually just obscure the truth.

The truth is that it doesn't matter. Your friend is a person in a
relationship with another person. A human relationship. One that
whole-heartedly receives the Wonderful Labs Seal of Approval. Send
pictures if you get a chance.
