Dear Mr. Wonderful,
In my time I've studied some portion of various cultures, alas most
often without actually visiting said locales. It seems that among the
most civilized and yet distinctly odd environments is France. For
example I cite the following article:

I know that they say that love conquers all, but does that extend to
rigor mortis?
So what form of social darwinism has allowed France to develop a degree
of civility as to create art and film unlike no other, yet also condones
such concepts as borderline necrophilia and avoiding deodorant?

Dear Live Nerds,
I think it's sex, isn't it?
Yes, yes, I'm quite sure now. Dipping into the Wonderful Labs
"Encyclopedia of Erotica" Diary here: "The French will fuck anything
slower than a Cheetah. How do you think you got so lucky with Brigitte
Bardot last week in Cannes?"
There's nothing incompatible between fine art and hot weasel sex. I
know it may be difficult for my American readers to handle, but human
beings that smell like human beings are more attractive *to the human
body*, than human beings that smell like flowers. If you want to roll
around in a springtime field, that's your brain's kink. Sex within the
Kingdom, however, is still considered civilized, and desirable.
And the smurfy love-life force running through French culture and
French blood covers a multitude of sins. Let's face it: if all you do
is drink wine and make love, you're going to become quite an expert on
the both. You're also going to realize that other pursuits (e.g.,
bombing the shit out of people) aren't quite so fulfilling as they might
appear.
So the French tend to do fewer bad things, and they make more people
feel good. I think we can forgive them the odd "corpsey" wedding.

Mister Wonderful Recommends: Un film de Enki Bilal. I realize that
this is, in all probability, "The Fifth Element II: Revenge of the
Killer Element." But. Come on. How many issues of "Heavy Metal" could
you get through without Bilal? Let this hawk-headed frenchie into your heart.
