<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none">Thanks for the, er, VD advice earlier (voltage drop) – will schedule a weekend with the wiring diagram to see what’s up as all the connectors behind the lamps look fine.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none">Anyway, my boot solenoid has suddenly stopped working – upon unlocking the car, all the doors, fuel flap etc are unlocked yet the boot solenoid just hums for about 20 seconds but the solenoid arm doesn’t move.
The lock is definitely in the mode that should allow the central locking to work (key in vertical position). When I manually move the solenoid lever back and forth, it does operate the central locking as normal, so all the internal switches must be okay. Guess
it’s just motor failure or some internal gears stripped.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none">To get the solenoid out, it looks like I need to remove the boot lock itself – no problem, but how is the solenoid’s rod supposed to be disconnected ?<o:p></o:p></p>
