[W124] relay & dash probs

You might what to replace all the fuses so that no other symptoms
arise.....

Amazing, thanks so much for your help. 
 
I checked all the fuses with an ohm meter, removed number 5, it was and
checked it, was good, but maybe 20 years of sitting it got a touch out
of place. 
 
All works well.
