Have the suspension bushes been put in with grease before mounting? If not
this will make lots of noise and be faster worn out. More than that I don't
know.

Subject: [W124] front-end creak
I have a noise in the front end that occurs usually when I
brake while backing up, but sometimes during hard braking
going forward. The sound is a loud creaking sound - like a
heavy metal gate being opened on rusted hinges. It is not a
continuous sound, but is heard ONLY momentarily during the
transition time when the brakes are first applied and the
suspension is absorbing a lot of energy. It seems that it
May occur as the suspension settles from a hard stop as
well. Definitely coming from the front.
Lower ball joints, rod ends, drag link, & steering box have
all been replaced recently - I expected the noise to go away
when that was done, but it didn't change.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Scott Kelley
