Greg,
You can get some nice AMG replica wheels that look like the
factory AMG wheels for about 1/3 the price. I have some 5
spoke AMG replicas on my 1995 E320CV and really like the
way they drive and look. I am running 225/45/17 on my car
which is factory lowered (Sportline suspension) and have
not had any clearance issues. My first set of tires were
way noisy (Mich) but since I switched to Nokians NRZi I am
very pleased.
My other car 1993 - 300CE has the same wheels but I used
Falken ST115 tires and they are very quiet as well. Of
course since it is a hard top it is more quiet anyway. I
just did a search though and found that the ST115 tires by
Falken are being phased out. I realize tire preference is
very subjective but I think the Nokian NRZi tires are the
best all around tire available. They are also pretty
reasonably priced at $130-140 each if I remember correctly.
Cheers,
