Did you get a time for the run, Paul?

Not really, it was a friends car (3 days old!) so I wasn't going balls-out.
Most people (who actually own the cars they drive) go slowly along the
start/finish straight to let the engine cool down. As the owner was sitting
next to me, that's what I did.

Do they give you a ticket when you start, how does the process work?

This was a 3- day session organised by a car-club that's no longer in
business (unsurprisingly). The cost was very reasonable spread out over the
three days, but you tend to want to give the car a rest after the first
day's thrashing in case it breaks thousands of miles from home....

How much did it cost you, do you remember? And, is one payment good for as
many runs as you want, or do you have to pay for each one?

I remember it was about a fiver a lap. but I think it's gone up to a tenner
or so now. Still a bargain!

There were 20 cars in our group, mostly Porsches. The vast majority had some
sort of mechanical problem, and a couple were written-off.

It was a little window into a world of affluence I can only dream of. For
example, at the evening meal (that Sabine was the waitress for!) it started
out with a 50 quid whip to cover the food and booze.....half an hour later,
another one! An hour later another one......that's when I realised I was out
of my (financial) depth......

Thanks very much,
Tom Reynolds
