[Mercedes] [W124] RE: '93 320CE Intermittent Starting Problem (UPDATE)

Well, I'm a little bit further on, but not much....

Turns out it's the lack of spark that's the problem.

Trying to stitch together the wiring diagrams form the CD takes ages, but
one thing I did conclude, there are probably a dozen or so sensors,
connections etc that could stop the engine management system sparking if
they packed-up......

I'm sure the engine management system knows better than me what the problem
is, does anyone know how to read the fault codes?

Thanks for the advice about the fuses, but I've put a meter on them, and
even replaced them, but still no spark.

Just to remind anyone interested, whilst I'm staring at the engine
scratching my head, it's just as likely to start perfectly in the time it
takes me to make a cup of tea....... That means all troubleshooting is over
for the day. Can't fix what's not broken.

Sure enough, it'll fail to spark next time when you most need it.

And even on a 93, I believe the fuel pumps are mounted near the right
rear tire, although if I pay attention, I can usually hear mine when I
start my 89.
