Bennie,
If it's anything like the Coupe, it's a simple "undo 4 bolts" affair.
The bolts are accessible from inside the boot, after pulling out the carpet
and trim. There's a couple of plastic fittings that either need twisting
through 90 degrees, or pulling-out the centre pin with pliers.....can't
remember which, but it will be obvious.
It's worth fixing any rust revealed under the bumper while it's off.....it
won't go away on it's own.....
Probably one of the simplest jobs you'll ever get on a Mercedes (after
dusting the steering wheel).

Is there anyone who can tell me how to remove the rear bumper on a W124? It
seems to me that there are 2 brackets on each side, (a sliding bracket) but
I cannot determine how to remove the bumper cover. It is looking for a new
paint layer but I want to remove the whole thing and dismantle it before it
is painted.
Thanks

I'm looking for a '93 + no smokiing car with <100,000 miles in great shape
overall--anybody have one like this they want to part with or know where one
might be? It would be much appreciated; by the way, I'm in the Central
Texas (Austin) area. Thanx.

I think I've only seen two other W124 coupes in the Austin area besides
mine. I've got the maroon, or claret, I've seen a black one several times,
and I believe I've seen a white or light gray one once or twice. Autotrader
shows a pair of 89s (same as mine) in this area, although one has been there
for quite a while, and it's been pimped up a bit. There's also a black 93
convertible with 104K miles, but they want $20K for it. You'll probably need
to look in Houston or D/FW. Autotrader lists a few in those cities.
I lucked into mine something like 8 years ago from a local private seller in
northwest Austin. She's fast approaching 199K right now.
Remember that these got the 24-valve M104 motor for the 1990 model year, and
the Bosch fuel injection was upgraded in 91, so don't rule out a 91 or 92
model.
Happy hunting,
