The next meeting for our region is May 18th at Beth Ahm in Springfield. I am hoping that some of you can come with me then since the women are quite inspiring and the programs are so educational. Sisterhood pays the cost of attendance of its members and you learn about other Sisterhoods and their programs. Basically the Vice Chancellor from the seminary in NYC, Rabbi Lebeau, spoke today about the "middle" position of conservative judaism and the problems of our movement. He was very inspiring and talked about how we need to give our kids to get the opportunity to study Torah and enjoy it so that they will continue to want Judaism to be a part of their lives. I learned much and was inspired. We received an award from Women's League, our parent organization at the seminary, for our Torah Fund Efforts. Thank you to our Torah fund reps and to our members for their generous donations to a very important cause which supports our Rabbis, Cantors, teachers, tutors, etc. in scholarship and gives the Columbia-Lizst students a place to live while they study at the seminary. Thank you. I will post our award at the front of the synagogue. I am proud of our community's efforts in this regard. Hope to see all of you at Sisterhood Shabbat this week on Friday and Saturday, April 4th and 5th. Come and see our women lead us in prayer, read Torah and inspire us!!! If you wish to work in the kitchen, please contact Barbara Brown at bsmithbrown at yahoo.com There are many opportunities to help and Barbara will find you vounteer work for one hour or for more depending upon your availability.
