Protean men: upon capturing, a unit (including kings) takes on the 
powers of the unit captured, including the direction of movement (in 
case a unit with the powers of a pawn is captured).
E.g. a game could start with 1. a4 b5 2. ab5 Ba6 3. b4 (white pawn b5 
moves like a black pawn)
Vertical Moebius cylinder: The a- and h-file are connected, a1 is 
connected to h8, a2 to h7, etc. In the begin position, white's first 
move could be Sb1xh7.
