Solutions:
R0146 - Keith
a) With black to move, the position is stalemate, a draw. With white to
move, the black king came to b1 through d1 and e2. In monochromatic
chess, the white king didn't have to move to allow this. So white wins
with 1. OO.
b) wRc2 is the promoted wPg2. Since wSb1 never moved, the only
lightsquared white piece bPh3 could have captured is the white queen.
The other capture must've been the white h-pawn captured en passant. No
other light-suqared black pawn could have gotten to the 3rd rank, let
alone promote. In order for wPg2 to promote, it had to capture 4 black
pieces. wPd3 captured a black piece on d3, another lightsquared piece.
bRa8 and bBc8 account for at most two of these captures. If all other
captures were whitesquared pieces, they would have been bPf7, bPh7 and
bSg8, but this is impossible since bPh3 is either the f- or h-pawn. So
one of the other 3 captures was an ep capture. So at least two
ep-captures occurred.
