Hello, Yefim.
1. My corrections for example of moving knight (repeat below)
4k3/8/1b6/4p1p1/3pP1P1/2pP1BRB/2PpB1P1/3K1B1N w - -
is 2512 dead positions.
Calculations: (16*19+18*18)*2*2=2512, where 16 is amount of light squares for
BK,
19 is amount of dark Squares for BB, 18 amounts of darks squares for BK and
BB at the same time.
The first 2 is for 2 possibilities for WN, the second 2 shows that all
configurations are to be multiplied (turn's move).
2. It is strange to refer to 1.3 or 9.6 rule (below)
9.6 The game is drawn when a position is reached from which a checkmate
cannot occur by any possible series of legal moves, even with the most unskilled
play. This immediately ends the game.
My arguments.
There are even more dead position in some sets.
For example.
In dead set with position
4k3/2b5/8/p1p1p1p1/P1P1P1P1/8/2B5/4K3 w - -
304704 positions and if we add WB will be more than million.
Do you know how many "series of legal moves" are possible here?:)
Googol, googolplex, gugolsplash :)) may be very small for comparison. Who
will show
all series? Player? Director? Convention of mathematicians?
It should be omitted because there are may exist dead positions requiring
very deep reasoning... Let players continue a game...:( :)
