Hello from Yefim!
Recently I looked at some records: "The shortest mates in Proof games" where
my favorite castling was made. For example:
1.d3 f5 2.Bf4 Kf7 3.e3 Kg6 4.Ne2 Kh5 5.g3 Kg4 6.f3+ Kxf3 7.Bh3 Qe8 8.0-0#
Final position, however, may have been obtained by the other game when
castling is not necessary.
I found that many final positions do not need castling before but some do and
here is the one:
rnbq1rkn/pppppppp/7N/8/P7/6R1/1PPPPPPP/2BQKBNR b
One may prove that castling must have occurred before!
If somebody improves this idea he will get another record with such
condition:
"The shortest mate when castling must have occurred before".
