[R129 SL] SL500 Center console removal - How do you do it?

Somewhat awkward to explain.  I would take it to the dealer.  That dashwood
is $1500 to replace and it's all one piece.

We dropped something behind the ashtray in our '99 SL500!  Does anyone have
a clue as to how to remove the center console without breaking any clips?
