Today’s world is developing materially with leaps and bounds. =
Inventions and productions of goods and commodities sometimes lead to =
destruction of natural beauties. While striving for raising the living =
standard by construction buildings and producing goods, man is seeking =
for natural authentic beauties. That’s why ancient cultural =
heritage and natural beauties are disposed and preserved in the =
world’s nations respectively. By attracting the tourists with =
natural scenic beauties and idyllic spots, eco-tourism or nature-tourism =
is today earning a huge amount of foreign exchange in many countries. =
Myanmar is rich with natural resources. There are many famous scenic =
places in the country. Mount Popa is one of them. The Popa region is =
located in Kyaukpadung Township, Mandalay Division. The Forest =
Department has designated reserve forest areas in order to preserve the =
natural resources under the forest conservation programmes. The Popa =
region is composed of main Mount Popa and fat-topped hill. The Mount =
Popa natural park is at the main mountain. The total area of the park is =
89.64 square mile. It is rich with flora and fauna including various =
species of medicinal plants and herbs as well as with about ten kinds of =
jungle animals and various kinds of birds. There are over 100 water =
spring in the park and rare species of golden deer can be seen in the =
park. To attract tourists with the Mount Popa , efforts are being made =
to promote eco-tourism there. Standard guest houses have been built by =
the Woodland Co Ltd in joint co-operation with the departments =
concerned. The Popa region is , in fact, an oasis of the arid zone of =
central Myanmar. It is also known well historically. It is located along =
with Bagan ancient city and hence rich with ancient cultural heritage. =
