Mount Popa nature Park Resort Today’s world is developing materially with leaps and bounds. Inventions and productions of goods and commodities sometimes lead to destruction of natural beauties. While striving for raising the living standard by construction buildings and producing goods, man is seeking for natural authentic beauties. That’s why ancient cultural heritage and natural beauties are disposed and preserved in the world’s nations respectively. By attracting the tourists with natural scenic beauties and idyllic spots, eco-tourism or nature-tourism is today earning a huge amount of foreign exchange in many countries. Myanmar is rich with natural resources. There are many famous scenic places in the country. Mount Popa is one of them. The Popa region is located in Kyaukpadung Township, Mandalay Division. The Forest Department has designated reserve forest areas in order to preserve the natural resources under the forest conservation programmes. The Popa region is comp!
osed of main Mount Popa and fat-topped hill. The Mount Popa natural park is at the main mountain. The total area of the park is 89.64 square mile. It is rich with flora and fauna including various species of medicinal plants and herbs as well as with about ten kinds of jungle animals and various kinds of birds. There are over 100 water spring in the park and rare species of golden deer can be seen in the park. To attract tourists with the Mount Popa , efforts are being made to promote eco-tourism there. Standard guest houses have been built by the Woodland Co Ltd in joint co-operation with the departments concerned. The Popa region is , in fact, an oasis of the arid zone of central Myanmar. It is also known well historically. It is located along with Bagan ancient city and hence rich with ancient cultural heritage. The Popa is a major attraction for world’s tourists.
