[W126 Coupe] Seat Lock Problem

Hi Folks
Thanks for the advise,I found the front plastic bolt covers very difficult
to remove,I slid flat bladed tools underneath but they seem to be locked
onto something unfortunate despite being very gentle I cracked one.There
must be a technique for removal,I have checked the CD but cannot find any
reference..If anyone has information on how to remove these without breakage
I would appreciate it.

Hi Folks
Well! Just as I was enjoying my SEC ?bug free?for a change a friend asked
for a ride from the bottom of his drive to the top,problem is he has hip
joint problems and was waiting for surgery, so as he is about to get in the
passenger side his hip gives way and he comes crashing down into the
seat(he weighs 130kg)how the welds on the seat frame held together is a
miracle!!
After that the seat would not lock with the engine running,I suspect the
vacuum pipes/connectors have been damaged under the seat I have removed the
rail bolts but the seat would not lift up,I may have to remove the floor
bolts.If anyone has information on how to access the lock components and
effect repair I would appreciate it.

Dan,
Below is from waning memory. Please check the cd manual for specifics.
Slide the seat rearward and remove the two trim caps and two 13mm floor
bolts from the front cabin.
Slide the seat forward and remove the two 13mm bolts from the rear cabin
floor.
Remove the seat belt rail trim cover and bolt in rear cabin from the side of
the transmission. Rock the seat upward and disconnect the electrical and
vacuum lines.
Now remove the seat to a bench and inspect for any frame damage.
Installation is the reverse process.
The vacuum lead manages the seat back lock. The electric harnesses manage
seat belt latch indicator (2-wire?), seat movement (6,8 or 10 pin block?)
and electric heat (should be a relay box and harness under seat) if
equipped.
The motors internal to the seat for rail front to back movement and seat
back elevation are run on thick black cables. These can become loose from
the motors leaving no action while the motors turn and can be repaired on a
bench.

Prior to removing the seat from the car, check the lock itself in the seat
back - it's easier that moving that heavy, heavy seat. Move the seat forward
a bit, lean the seat back forward and take out the two chrome philip head
screws on the bottom of the the plastic panel that is the back of the seat.
With that panel off, you can see the seat lock and the vacuum line that
locks the seat. It's now easy to test the vacuum line with a Mity-Vac to see
if it's still connected. It took longer to type this than it should take to
do this!!
