BTW, the spring loaded hood catch you are looking for (126 880 00 60) is the same on ALL 126 models; SE, SD, SEL, SDL as well as the SEC, 1981 through 1991 so if you live in a location with a reasonably good auto wrecker, that widens the availability greatly.  If that's not a help to save time, the offer of a pair of catches stands if you're interested.  The part No. is stamped on the base plate next to one of the bolt holes.
