My favorite Healey was a "LeMans" model Healey 100, lightened frame,
drilled-out pedals, the whole racing trim. Is owner called it
"Willy-Lump-Lump" because that's the way it (or should I say its
race-tuned small-block Chevy V8) idled: "lump-lump, lump-lump, lump-lump...
He was a parts man at the local BMC shop and claimed the land speed
record for a certain stretch of Forest Park Expressway, inside the St.
Louis City Limits, of 140mph. Gosh, only 100 over the limit!
