[W126 Coupe] Alarm system

My 500SEC is a cabriolet and I NEVER lock it with the top up or down ...  the theives would cut the top and break open the glove box, which would be more costly than anything they could steal.  I've always driven convertibles and have never lost anything or had any vandalism done.  My '67 El Camino doesn't have windwing locks anymore because my ex-wife drove it to school one day and locked it.  They broke in, stole my inexpensive speakers, and of course, the damage was worse than the value of what was taken.  --- On Mon, 3/21/11, Jay Hirsch <J.Hirsch at mac.com> wrote:

People only break into locked cars.  If windows are down  and doors unlocked no  one bothers with car.  "nothing there to take"
keep cruisin

There is one reason why I like that alarm system. I am also a Realtor/photographer and have often my hands full when going to my car.
With one push of a button the doors will unlock and I am able to open the passengers door to put my stuff on the chair and also in the trunk.
It is very convenient.

The cars are so difficult to steal and worth so little it's Really not worth the effort.  Car thieves was Honda Accords, not SEC's;-)

That said, if you want to disable the alarm, remove the passenger side carpet, pull the plastic panel in the front of the foot well, and unplug the two connectors from the unit that says Becker on the left hand side of the footwell.

Am I right that the 560 SEC is originally equipped with an alarm system?
And does that alarm system has a separate fuse somewhere beside in the engine compartment?
I am thinking to have a new alarm system installed.
Any advise!
