[W126 Coupe] ATF

Hi

Have spent the last hour on internet trying to find out what difference it
between the different ATF's and which one is recommended for the 560 SEC.

 

Would it be more damaging running with too much fluid than to little.

 

The transmission started to be rather noisy a while ago, I had leak, chance
the rubber casket and a new tray, probably overfilled while it was leaking I
read somewhere that excess fluid would disappear through the vent.

Two weeks ago it was only noisy, (a grumbling noise) the first 10/15 minutes
then it became quite, now the noise is there either the gear is in neutral
or when driven in first or second gear, seems to be more noisy when
accelerating, driving on a level road 80/90 kph (50/55 mph) there is no
noise more than normal.

 

Is there a filter somewhere that should be changed.
