Kent,

I created this list in an Excel spreadsheet, but unfortunately I'm in Germany traveling at the moment and can't get it to you. Will be home on Monday and will send it to you at that point. I believe Michael Clare here on the list, who is doing an even more ambitious refurbishment than I did, also has such a list, and he can probably send it to you too.

My rebuild only had to do with the top end (heads off) and engine compartment. There is a detailed walk-through of my process, complete with photographs and text descriptions, on my 500E web site. To see the photos you'd have to register for the site (takes a couple of minutes, very easy) but the URL is here:

You can also see the photographs here with no problem in this Facebook photo album .. no registration required:

Will get back to you soon.

Please let us know what you are doing with regard to your project, and provide regular updates!

Cheers,
Gerry

P.S. There are a few things you really need to check if you are doing this job of refurbishing your top end:

1) Timing chain tensioner -- don't replace with aftermarket, pay the bucks and get the MB tensioner. Critical part !!
2) Fuel lines underhood - check these for external cracks and replace if necessary. Fire hazard !!
3) Vacuum line between intake manifold & brake booster. Cracks easily !!
4) Motor mounts & shocks -- good time to replace them!!
