Yousef, I did most parts of my car, but if I were to do it again I'd focus on the areas where I think it makes the most difference. If you're doing a closed box for the subwoofer, depending on how you port the output into the cabin, I wouldn't worry to much about the trunk. Just make sure the subwoofer cabinet is mounted solidly to the chassis. If you're putting speakers in the doors, I'd focus my effort there. Put CLV (Dynamat, etc.) on the outer panel, patch up all the holes on the inner panel and make sure the doors are completely deadened with no rattles. Once you've got the speaker installation taken care of, it is all about tuning. A quick way to take care of that issue would be to buy a JBL MS-8. It's auto-tune funcationality is the best that's out there for the car environment.

Great job axel !!
Well i kno that the hardest part for me is getting the materials .. Its tough where i live .. I managed to find a japanese brand kit (everything is written in japanese) ill try get more info on the specs and compare to what u did .. Also you said that you wouldnt re-do the whole thing .. Which parts wouldnt you do?
Am thinking the door panels, quarter panel , parts of the trunk mainly around the rear wheel .. I am tempted to do the whole trunk .. But for my subs am thinkin of having them in ported boxes (ill explain my set up below) unlike urs ... Also what about the flooring did u do that too? Or is the OEM good enough?
Basically am losing the original audio sytem completely .. Also i want to integrate it to the interior without altering anything original .. Last not least i want a reasonable sound system that plays the music accurately.. So:
Front speakers: 6.5" placed in kick panels in the foot wells Rear speakers: 6.5" (coaxials?) placed somewhere dunno yet but somewhere near the quarter panelsSubs: two 8" subs .. this one am having a crazy idea of placing one in the front (where? ill have sort it out) and one at the back .. If not then both at the back.. Would like to ask which is better a single sub @ 100W or two 50W subs? Tweeters: will take the palce of the original 2.5" front speakers
Havent decided on the amp yet but reading back at this .. Its one hefty project!! I bet am gonna get a lot of LOLs :P..

Yousef,
Here is a link to what I did to my SEC a few years back:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1395582-advanced-car-audio.html
Was it worthwhile?
Yes.
Would I do it again?
Not all of it.
Would I recommend doing it to others?
Depends.
Our cars have very good sound insulation from the factory. Mercedes-Benz knows all about NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) and even if a car is dead solid, it has to sound dead solid for the drivers to really appreaciate it.
That being said. There is room for improvement, especially when you plan to do stuff that wasn't originally intended.
I put in two 10" subwoofers in the rear shelf and mounted them "infinite baffle", or "free air", which means I'm using the trunk as the "resonance chamber" and to eliminate all rattles and reduce the sound escaping to the outside, I used Constraint Layer Vibration damper (CLV) (Dynamat, Raamat, Damplifier, etc.) to deaden panels and Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) for noise barrier.
If you plan to install speakers in the door, deadening the outer panel, the inner panel, sealing off the inner panel from the outer panel and preventing the door card from rattling is very important.
Otherwise, play close attention to how the speakers are mounted, that the installation is solid and the rear is isolated from the front.
It is a lot of work and each and everyone will have to decide whether it will be time well spent for themselves.

Hey all
I am currently in the process of installing a sound system on my 560SEC .. I was thinking while am at it why dont I sound proof the car. I know it cannot be done 100% but also heard that does make a difference . Am thinking of doing the door panels and parts of the trunk ( i dont want to deaden the sound of the engine\exhaust)..
So what do you people think? any opinions\advice?? ---------------------------
