Yousef, Here is a link to what I did to my SEC a few years back:http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1395582-advanced-car-audio.html Was it worthwhile?Yes. Would I do it again? Not all of it. Would I recommend doing it to others?Depends. Our cars have very good sound insulation from the factory. Mercedes-Benz knows all about NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) and even if a car is dead solid, it has to sound dead solid for the drivers to really appreaciate it. That being said. There is room for improvement, especially when you plan to do stuff that wasn't originally intended. I put in two 10" subwoofers in the rear shelf and mounted them "infinite baffle", or "free air", which means I'm using the trunk as the "resonance chamber" and to eliminate all rattles and reduce the sound escaping to the outside, I used Constraint Layer Vibration damper (CLV) (Dynamat, Raamat, Damplifier, etc.) to deaden panels and Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) for noise barrier. If you plan to install speakers in the door, deadening the outer panel, the inner panel, sealing off the inner panel from the outer panel and preventing the door card from rattling is very important. Otherwise, play close attention to how the speakers are mounted, that the installation is solid and the rear is isolated from the front. It is a lot of work and each and everyone will have to decide whether it will be time well spent for themselves.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] [w126 coupe] Sound proofing\deadening

Hey all
I am currently in the process of installing a sound system on my 560SEC .. I was thinking while am at it why dont I sound proof the car. I know it cannot be done 100% but also heard that does make a difference . Am thinking of doing the door panels and parts of the trunk ( i dont want to deaden the sound of the engine\exhaust)..

So what do you people think? any opinions\advice?? ---------------------------
