I went through the same thing and it was the radiator. That was about 4yrs ago and it’s still running cool.

My 1991 420SEL with 147,000 miles is overheating at about 89 degree outside temp. I checked the auxiliary fan and it is working. Would a new radiator solve the problem? If not, any other ideas? The synthetic oil has been changed every 5,000 miles and recently replaced ant-freeze and flushed the radiator.
