Lead acid wet cell batteries are indeed old technology but so is a 560 SEC.
I like the look of an OEM battery in my '91 because it is a low mileage,
pure stock creampuff. The OEM batteries are made to fit with your stock hold
down brackets. If I was running a modified 560, I'd consider other types. I
actually just replaced my battery with a new OEM MB battery today. $135 from
the dealer with my MB club discount. Says it's made in Germany although I
thought Interstae was the manufacturer.
Helpful hints-don't even think of trying to replace the battery without
first removing the windshield washer reservoir. It can be done but you'll
struggle all the way. Remove the battery tray and do a little housekeeping
underneath it if its needed. These batteries are very heavy. Open the hood
to its full vertical position and get a young stud to lift the old one out
and new one in if you have any back issues at all. Don't forget to recode
the radio if it's stock.
