[W126 Coupe] K&N Air Filters

Rick,
I bought a couple for different cars and while I "felt" better about it, empirical testing a few years ago (when I was still willing to pay the $400 for dyno time) showed I actually lost 5 rwhp with the K&N averaged across 3 runs. I performed a run with the stock dry paper filter before and again after the runs with the K&N just to make sure it wasn't a fluke with no other changes.
Other than being able to (theoretically) re-use the filter many times by cleaning it, drying it and re-oiling it, you won't be gaining any power from the change. Since the typical air filter is some $10-$15, it may save you a minor operating expense on consumables, but otherwise I'm sorry to say I've found it to be snake oil.

Hi Folks,

What are the thoughts here, regarding
K&N air filters?

Pro's and Con's?
