Whoa! OK, you're giving some additional information here. Looks like someone has been "working" on this electrical system before... some lights working, some poorly and some not at all..... and on both sides. " The voltage on the passenger side of the car are different than those on the driver's side. " How can the voltage be "different"? Adding a new ground to a light shouldn't cause the light to not work (unless now you have no ground at all). Something else is happening here. Could be indeed that you need a complete new (european) light switch.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Thanks for the diagram
Thanks for the diagram, it came through fine. I will appreciate some help in reading it. Is there someone I can call?
I was trained in electronics, but auto wiring diagrams follow their own convention that I always have found somewhat confusing. This will be a challenge as I have a euro and the light switch is very different. Fortunately, that part of the operation is working fine. The euro cars can independently turn on the left or right side of the parking lights, This is working fine even though I find no reason ever to use this feature.
There are some strange things going on in this car. The voltage on the passenger side of the car are different than those on the driver's side. The passenger side fog light works after I fooled around and then stopped working. The fog lights on the drivers side has not worked so far.
I put on a second gound to the passenger light and the light stopped working entirely.
The voltages are negative as well. Very strange.

This may be a blind alley since it may only cover the North American
models -- but see if the attached schematic helps. (LIST: this is a
220KB file so it might not make it to the list, but Calvin should get
his copy.)
