[W126 Coupe] Problem with 1990 560 SEC

Mister McGoo, et al,

Thanks for all your feedback; I certainly read all of it this morning.  And, I must say this forum is great.  I didn't understand this Steering Wheel anomaly; and hadn't had driven cars as such.  Today, my neighbor introduced me to his Mercedes mechanic since the car needed a brake sensor (ABS Light on); he confirmed the correctness of the Steering Wheel and showed me that looking through the Windshield at the Wheel it is perfectly lined up with the top of the dash (the part that overhangs the instrument cluster). Interesting and although I was convinced it was correct after reading the various feedback and seeing pictures, this seals the deal.  I am happy again!!

I've always wanted a 560 SEC; however I have a lot to learn about the car.  It's in great condition and I hope to build upon that.

Regards,

Stephen

This topic is taking off a life of its own.  The steering wheel being non-parallel to the dash is not a design flaw.  The steering wheel is directly in front of the centerline of the DRIVER'S SEAT, which is, from a driving standpoint, "correct".  As I first said, I'd be willing to bet that most drivers have never noticed this "tilt".  And it's certainly not unique to Mercedes.
