I believe that you are speaking of the steering wheel being not parallel to the dash. (I assume that you are NOT referring to the steering wheel being "off" a spline or two so the steering wheel is cocked slightly when driving perfectly straight.)
While sitting in the driver's seat, does the center of the steering wheel appear to be slightly to the left of the center of the speedo? Note the instrument cluster "hump" in the dash. Is it centered on the steering wheel? Does the steering column cover at the dash appear to be centered directly under the outside temp readout, which in turn is directly under the center of the speedo?
Chances are your steering wheel is 100% right.... It's the dashboard that is crooked! Or no, perhaps the steering column is straight and the rest of the CAR is bent!
Use a ruler. Measure it to the dash, particularly with the steering wheel extended as far as it goes. The steering column is NOT at right angles to the dashboard. It is angled to the left very slightly.
How many members have been driving these cars for YEARS and have never noticed it? -Bellamy

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Problem with 1990 560 SEC
I just purchased a 1990 560 SEC with 136k miles in great condition all around with all recommended servicing complete. However, I have one problem thus far:
It looks as if the steering column is twisted to the left. In other words, when I place my hands at 10 & 2 o'clock position on the steering wheel, my left hand is closer to the dash than my right hand. I called a dealer, they said it's possible it could be fixed or not and that it could be a bolt in the steering column causing the column to rotate.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Sincerely,
Stephen
