How are you doing.
You are right about being from the old continent. But beside that I have worked in the petrochemical and refinery fields as a design engineer.
I  have about 20 years experience with refineries in the middle east like projects for Aramco.
In the old days these projects were all done according to the American systems, but during the early eightieth the middle east countries also change to the international si system (metric) and all the revamping and the new additions had to be done in metrics. During those transitions we had a lot of extra work changing the calculations to make a match.
As I understand it today the whole world, except America, is using the SI standard.

  You just have to commit to memory a few data points really.

  15C = ~60F (balmy for most of the US, but arctic by Houston standards)

  20C = 68F (very comfortable temperature for most folks, but chilly here in Houston)

  25C = 77F (about my favorite temperature; not too hot, not too cold, normal Houston fall day)

  30C = 86F (getting a bit too warm for my tastes, but a cold summer day here in Houston)


  I took the attached photo in my 560SEC last Friday afternoon while out running errands … 77F / 25C
