I could never remember whether to add (or subtract) the 32 before or
after the ratio conversion.
So the new method is:
1) Add 40
2) Multiply by 5/9 or 9/5, depending on which direction you are converting
3) Subtract 40.
OTOH, scientists and darkroom photographers quickly learn that 20C =
68F; and conveniently 10C = 50F; and we all know that 0C = 32F -- so the
usual span is pretty well covered.
