[W126 Coupe] Sun Roof Problem

Well, since you're working on replacing it anyhow, this will get you 
part way there, as well as letting you close the sunroof until then.

Slide the sunroof most of the way open, and either with your fingers or 
a plastic putty knife, pry the front edge of the sunroof liner down, 
until you get the clips to release that hold it to the sunroof.  There 
are five or six, as I recall.
Then slide the liner forward and upward, out of the sunroof opening.
Once it is out of the way, slide the sunroof forward, and when it's 
fully forward, reach to the back, and push on the bar that is attached 
to the bottom of the rear sliders.  When it's pushed fully forward, the 
rear of the sunroof will pop up into place.

I hope this helps some, and that you have no issues when you replace the 
cable.
