[W126 Coupe] 1988 560 SEC blogs out?

Hi Kelly,

I'd wait until after dark to spray with water. You should feel the
engine run rough at some point but, you will have the added advantage of
seeing the sparks leaking from the ignition cap or wires. Obviously,
don't touch the wires when doing this visual test.

You can easily get a cap, rotor and wire set, correct plugs too if
needed, from Jonathan. The replacement wires are good for well over
100k. I'd avoid mcparts store as they will not hold up and may not be
matched for impedance leaving you worse off then you are now. Too many
people are putting in bad parts and then bogging lists down with
troubleshooting when in reality they chose poor quality parts and there
in lies the root cause of the motor's maladies.

Good luck,
Dick
