Tom;I think Markus is likely right. The culprit is likely the Sway (Stabilizer) Bar Link that joins the rear sway bar to trailing arm Part No 123 320 09 89) When broken they will clunk when bouncing the rear corner. Easy to see (remove wheel - directly behind the brake disc back plate), and easy to replace. They cost less than $10.That would be the first place to look anyway.-Bellamy

Subject: [W126 Coupe] low left rear end question

Today when walking up to my 560SEC from across the parking lot, I noticed that the left rear looked lower than the right rear. I looked at it more closely and then when I go home I made a crude measurement to see how much lower. It looks to be fairly substantial, on the order of 3/8”, maybe more. I also noticed a “clunking” sound going over bumps that I had actually thought was the cooler I keep in the trunk, but now I think not. The ride does not seem hard, the symptom of the accumulators going bad. I had actually replaced both of them around 60k miles ago…the car is high mileage…I bought it to drive and I do! Does anybody have any ideas as to what to look at before I bring it in? ThanksTom Oelsner90 560SEC223k miles
