[W126 Coupe] MBCOUPES Digest, Vol 76, Issue 14

Re dash lights: Chances are the problem is still the dimmer rheostat. These things are simply a contact rubbing against what looks like a spring. These things do eventually wear out or break. As you turn the knob back and forth, does it make a scratching noise? It should. If it doesn't, the contact is broken in the rheostat. BTW, it's a good idea for you to crank the knob back and forth many times watching for any flicker of light in the dash. Sometimes if this has not been moved for a long time some corrosion builds up in it and no contact is being made. Turning it back and forth wears the corrosion film off.
