Crank Position Sensor is a common issue but if you say it starts with some fuel poured into the air intake then your issue must be fuel related so id look at the injectors.

Many Thanks & Regards

Hi all

I do realise that all of you mainly talks about SEC's with V8 engines, (my 89 560 SEC gives me not much problems,) but is there anyone who has experience with a 320 Cdi. I have an S class 2003, with such engine and it has given me problems for the last year. It starts in seconds when the engine is cool, but for about a year ago it took longer and longer when the engine is warm, and now it doesn't start at all if the engine temp is more than 60-70 Celsius, if over 85 I have to let it be for at least one hour until it has cooled down.

I have been to several MB workshops, none could tell were the problem is, they have been guessing on fuel filter (has been changed) fuel pump the high pressure on (has been rebuilt), fuel leak, a leak was found at the fuel filter (but has been sorted out). The problem is still there, I now carry a small bottle in the boot, with 75% diesel and 25% petrol and poor a tablespoon or so in the air intake, after the filter but before the turbo and the engine starts.

The only thing I could think of is the injectors or a computer problem.

Apart from the problem of not starting when the engine is warm, when I accelerate (doesn't matter at what speed) the engine cuts off and it displays a EPC problem for a few seconds. I put the gear in neutral start the engine, have to slow down to about 30 km/hour and the gear kicks in again.
